World Poker Tour: Freedom Fries & Tony G (Spoilers)

What a good episode that was! Tony G had me cracking up... "You call $20,000 just like that?" It was especially great to see him at the final table in France. Classic. They played up that angle pretty over the top, but I can still see the "Aviator" club members seething. Beautiful stuff, and definately the preferable ending. :)

Great episode. This is now my favorite show. I'm getting quite poker obsessed. I recently bought Turbo texas holdem from Wilson software and am reading a few books. Getting ready to move up to some small money tourneys at Turning Stone Casino.

I'm really enjoying this, though I'd like the people involved to know the difference between dollars and euro. It is the WORLD poker tour, after all.

what channel is this on?

mrpurple;
The first and only book you need on poker is Doyle Brunson's "Super System" which covers tournament and side action games. Excellent hold'em section done primarily by David Sklansky.
BTW - where are you guys seeing the World Poker Tour? I can only get the occasional repeat of the 2002 World Series of Poker.

It's on the Travel Channel most every Wednesday night.

Although not as instructive as Brunson's book, I recently read Andy Bellin's "Poker Nation" and found it quite entertaining. Not a how-to by any means, just a fun read if you like poker.

This is the biggest reason I hate my cable company (Comcast-Willow Grove) - no travel channel.
Does anyone know who does the commentary for these tournaments?

Its Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patton.

I set a SP for this show a few weeks ago and LOVE watching it!
That Tony G guy was hilarious... "oh my! It's a FLUSH!!!"
And that bit with "you can see one of my two cards, pick one".. I was waiting for someone to strangle him :)

I just saw this episode tonight (tivo'd from last week) and didn't realize it was a repeat. If I would have been playing with that Tony G, I think I would have decked him.
And what was with those $10,000 chips? Is it standard in Europe to use those plaques (sp?) for certain denominations?

Yes. They show up in American casinos as well. I like 'em (conceptually - I'm not at that level yet) for their style and Bondishness. :)
