How ^$#@ing long to backup FULL 80hour drive?

I began my TiVo Series 2 80 hour upgrade yesterday (weaknees' awesome accessory kit + power trip was at my doorstep when I got home!)
I first did a simple minimal mfsbackup from the 80GB, and restored that (blank-ish) image to a new 120GB maxtor, then did an mfsadd. TiVo booted up with all settings (but no shows) intact, and the additional capacity was reported (from 89 hours up to 133 or so IIRC)
Then, pulled it out and did the one step FUL backup to the 120 with -Tao, -s 127 and -xzpi, in order to make the 120 GB a working standalone drive A with ALL my programs. Later I'll add in the 80 as the B drive. But here's the kicker - the ackup from the 80 to the 120 is taking FOREVER. Granted, most of my disk is full (I deleted some suggestions and some other shows) and 74850 MB needs backing up. But by my projections/estimates, it'll take over 13 and a half hours to finish the backup! Is that normal?
I booted from the mfsTools floppy image (two burns of the ISO image refused to boot up - perhaps its my new DVD/RW drive?). The system is an Athlon 2100+XP on a kickass Asus nForce2 Deluxe A7n8X motherboard with 512MB of DDR DRAM.
Another quick question (which I will post separately for increased visibility) - should I remove all of the foam stuff from under the TiVo cover to accommodate the weakness double bracket and 2nd drive?
Also, my open system with just the bare 120GB drive was running 46 degrees, up from the 39-41 range of my closed system. Just a case of bad ventilation (fully open as opposed to covered) or do I perhaps have a bad replacement case fan?

It'll just take forever... over 16 hours. I just did this with my original 80 hour drive when I copied it to a 120Gb drive.

Whew - that's a relief! I thought perhaps I had forgotten to turn on DMA/UDMA or some other bus speed setting in my BIOS - I'm always experimenting with those!
Could you also (if you went to a two drive config) address my other question (also asked in another thread) - what should I do with the foam? I think the advantage of removing ALL of it carefully is I can put it back on if I ever sell/RMA my TiVo with the original drive back in it. However, if the cooling benefit by cutting it intelligently is substantial, I might consider that option.
TIA!

I seem to remember that an aftermarket bracket is made that will replace the OEM fans and add spacing for a 2nd drive.
I'd probably use the TwinBreeze™ Complete kit from Weakness.
It's the best way to handle this, and I think they take care of the foam problem with the replacement fans and all.

Thanks, that is PRECISELY what I have! So I guess I'll just remove the foam entirely, and trust the excellent ergonomics of the TwinBreeze bracket and the additional fan to do the trick.
