I recently aquired a turbonet card and was installing it. I got everything on the tivo A drive and edited the rc.sysinit file to bring up telnet. My problem is that I do not have a dhcp router. I only have a switch that doesn't assign ip addresses. I did some researching and found out that if I run the nic_install program I can assign an ip address. SO I did that and put the HDD back into my tivo and it is stuck at the Powering Up screen. Well I did some more research and found that I have to reflash the prom since it is a DTivo. So I put the A drive back into the PC and started reflashing using the boot cd from silicondust. Well it has been running for about 10 hours now and it is just sitting at a blinking curser. I thought it was working becasue it showed some progress when it said it was now writing root partition, but it has been stuck there for a long time. I can see the HDD light come on and work for about 5 min, and then go off. After about 20 seconds it comes back on and repeats. I have the version 3.1 software on my tivo so is that affecting anything. If anyone can help me I would really apprecaite it!!!

--Update--
Here is what it says. When I do the /tivoflash/install it asks me where my tivo A is and I tell it. Then it says
Copying kernel...
1+9 records in
64+0 records out
After about 30 min. it says
Creating root partition
6+3602 records in
6+3602 records out
Then it freezes there and won't do anything. my hard drive is working becasue the light is blinking, but I left this on overnight and it just freezes here. I have done this twice with the same result twice.

I just had the same exact issue, and this was just hooking the drive up to a PC
What I did was execute the following command from "Hacking Tivo" by Jeff Keegan that I got from Amazon:
cd / ; umount -a ; reboot
Not sure what that did but what I noticed was that when I rebooted the PC before that command, and used the Checkdrivesetup command from the book's CD-ROM the drive wasn't even seen by Linux. After that command and a reboot, Linux saw it, and so does the Tivo.
My next problem, though, is that I am unsure if tivoflash even worked or not. the visual symptoms of the screen restarting after 30 seconds did not happen I don't think....
