Well i have tivoweb up and running using Airnet. The biggest obstacle was getting the right intersil compatible card. Initially i bought a belkin card thinking it was compatible but it was not. Then went on ebay and bought a us robotics card and rest was a snap.

Next - other then remote scheduling - the most appealing feature of the home media option to me is the ability to view photos on the tivo. Is this possible now that I have my tivo on the network?

Yes. You have to install an application on your PC which makes the PC a photo server on your lan. The application is available from the TiVo website. Pictures are "published" by dragging and dropping the directories onto the a pane of the application. These directories can then be "found" by your TiVo. Only jpegs are supported.

The TiVo grabs the pictures on the fly and renders them for the TV. The actual jpegs never leave the PC.

It works very nicely. The quality, considering the small resolution of the TV screen, is surprisingly good.

Hi,

The official tivo support is for series 2 only.

Perhaps someone might be interesting in doing something similar for a series 1?

That wouldn't be hard to do on a series 1 unit with something like TCS, and then have a plugin that will on the fly convert any image format to PNG, then send it to the osdwriter. You would in effect have the exact same functionality, only instead of being limited to jpeg, you can use just any image format. Add tridges samba kernel module, and you could even use files on a windows file share without even having to install any special software.

Go bug Zirak for that feature now :P

The only modules i see on the tivo web site are the following. I do not see any for the pictures. Zirak - can you help getting this functionality into tivo web? I am a newbie but interested in learning TCL.
