It appears as if Curb Your enthusiasm will be starting from Ep 1 on HBO on June 9. It will also be airing on HBO2.

I am all over this, just a general question. Would I need two season passes if the show is on different HBO channels? The reason I ask is when I looked up "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in "search by title", it found two entries: one for HBO, one for HBO2. Do I have to season pass both entries? If anyone has info please let me know.

Yes, you need a season pass for each channel.

You can use an auto-record wish-list to catch the show regardless of the channel.

is there any drawbacks to the wish list method? is it generally preferred over a season pass?

Not that I can think of. I use them for any show that comes on multiple channels. They give you much more scheduling flexibility. In fact, for some shows, like Amazon, wish-lists are a much better way to go. That's b/c Amazon actually changes the title of their finale show (for example from 'Amazon X' to 'Amazon X: The Finale'). A season pass will not catch that show, but a wish-list would.

ahh, good point. I will have to give it a try! Thanks for the tips.

If its on both channels and you use a wish-list instead of a season pass you may get duplicate episodes and they will be out of sequence. Why would want that?

What is HBO 2, is HBO 1 & 2 East & West or something else?

It's another HBO channel usually offered on digital cable (and satellite?) - there are a few of them, like HBO Comedy, HBO Zone, HBO Signature, etc.

Absolutely. Law and Order is a great example. You are probably more interested in the episodes on NBC than TNT. You lose all flexibility of using different options for both channels with a wishlist.

Anything you are really interested in (and to cover things like the Survivor (?) example above), you want both SPs and WLs. Put the WL lower priority.

You won't get multiple copies of the same episode if you use an ARWL., assuming the guide data is correct. That's what the 28 day rule is for! And out of sequence? What do you mean by that? Isn't the point of TiVo to watch things when, and how you want to watch them?

As for the Law & Order example, you could use 'first run only'. And to provide another example, the new/current season's episodes of L&O CI, and SVU air on both NBC and then again on USA later in the week, or the next week. So an ARWL would allow you to record something else during the NBC airing and still catch the USA airing.
