Series 2 SA 80 GB drive upgrade

My father took up Tivo's deal earlier this year to buy a Series 2 and transfer your Lifetime to it. I had earlier upgraded his Series 1 up to 180 gigs, anyhow, he wants me to upgrade his Series 2. When I was in town for Spring Break, I was reading up on Series 2 drive upgrades, and I heard a lot of talk about worries with the powersupplies not being able to handle two drives. I was wondering if this turned out to be an issue or not. Other than that, while I've been home for this past week, I put a turbo net card in his series 1 and set him up with telnet, tivoweb, ftp, etc :) All went well!

If there were actual problems, I haven't heard. Weeknees sells a new power strip for the Series2 upgrades that staggers the start-up of the two drives. Email them or check out their site for more info. Great company.

Then Weaknees power trip cost only $9 in addition to the bracket kit, and I bought it. It stagger startup of the second drive by 4-6 seconds or so. I have it connected to the Y Splitter that powers the bracket fan and the B drive. I did not try booting the TiVo with the 2 drives &without the Power Trip, so don't know whether it would have caused an overload (super low odds, I would imagine!), but like the peace of mind. And from an operational standpoint, it makes loads of sense - the power-on state on hard drives is when the most power is drawn!
