Restoring backup from CD using a floppy bootdisk?

What I want to do is restore a backup from a CD and expand the new tivo drive in one step, but I am unfamilliar with linux.
I want to completely replace the original A drive with a newer Seagate Baracuda.
I thinkI have have narrowed down what I want to do, using the mfstools floppy bootdisk, is-
mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc
...well at least something similar to that, because I have no linux knowledge, I am not sure exactly to mount from a CD or if thats even possible.
I am also limited to 3 drives on the IDE chains, because of my form factor (a shuttle nforce2 cube) and its limited PS gets flaky when you load it up too much.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

You just replace
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt
with
mount /dev/hdd /mnt
hdd is secondary slave - substitute the correct devicenode for your CDROM if it's different.
