ok, well i got turbonet today and it works great. i am verry happy with it, so i enabled telnet, works great. figured out how to get ftp. makes everything easier. i then tried to get tivoweb. works like a charm.. a bit slow but kinda cool. s then i tried to save it to the rc.sysinit. at the end of everything i put
tivoftpd and that thing for tivoweb..... i did this in wordpad and then ftped it back to tivo. i then did a restart and just as i pulled the plug to put it back in it hit me. ahhhh i think it was a format thing you know. i did notice a back up file and so i wana go in there and well rename that one or something

all i have is the floppy with the telnet script and tivo floppy. i think i may need that joe editor thing but am going to first try and just get into tivo. and quick fix script will be verry nice. before i do anything i will check this form and my pm to see if anyone says wait dont do that

Hope you guys can help. i hope its only 1 file anyhow

what i have done so far
sp rc.sysinit.bak rc.sysinit

will it work????? 5 min will tell baby

:( nope ok so i will take the tanted files and put them on floppy and then thru 9th tee's link to dostounix utility

cp /floppy/rc.sysinit /mnt7/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit

i took a new file on floppy and then put it thru dostounix and now lets see if it works

nope, and well i decided to delete the two entries i made. i guess for some reason they decided to stay

those last 2 lines were deleted
re did file thru dostounix
saved everything

AND IT WORKS NOW OHH YEAAH BABY I AM A TIVO GOD i was kinda woried that maybe it would be broken or sometihng thou

ok, now that every thing is good with my tivo, how do i edit that file it says to place it at the end yet is there something i missed

If you use joe you won't need the dostounix utility.

Also I don't recommend making changes to the rc.sysinit file.

Create a new file called rc.sysinit.author

It will execute immediately after the rc.sysinit file completes. If you accidental change something in the rc.sysinit file it can make your TiVo crash. By adding the rc.sysinit.author file the TiVo will boot normally and give you a chance to fix the problem. Also, when/if there is an upgrade to the TiVo software the rc.sysinit file WILL be overwritten but the rc.sysinit file can easily be copied back if you keep a copy in your hack subdirectory (saves the trouble of manual re-entry).
