Two things I'd like to see

Maybe these have already been suggested, in which case you can ignore this post. First of all, I'd like to be able to pause season passes. I'd like to go to my season pass list and have a button to pause it. This way if I want to put one on hold for a while, I don't have to remove it, or change it's priority, just pause it, and when I'm ready for it again, to be able to unpause it. This way I don't have to remember exactly how it was worded, or where it was positioned on my list.
Second another recording option for Season Passes called Overwrite (a yes or no option). Here's how it would work. When it's On, everything would be like it currently is. When it's Off...If I have something set for 3 Episodes...Then when the TiVo has three episodes saved, it won't record anymore, until one of them is deleted. The reason I'd like this is for shows like Trading Spaces that's on 6 times a day. My GF records Trading Spaces (and some others like this). The problem is, we have it set to save only 3 episodes, but it probably records at least 6 a day, and she ever see's three of them (which is fine), meanwhile things below it on the list get bumped so it can overwrite it self. It would be nice if after it records three episodes it stops recording that show until one of them is deleted. (BTW this would be an option for each SP, some shows like the news, is something that's you clearly want the most recent episode of). The only problem with this that I could for see, is that deleting a show after your done watching it, could potentially take a while, as the to do list would have to re arrange it self.

I think your "Overwrite" option can already be achieved by suitable combinations of Keep Until and Keep At Most. For example:

Jeopardy: you always want one episode but you don't care which, and don't want TiVo to waste time replacing a perfectly good but unwatched one with a new one. "Keep at most 1 episode" and "Keep until I delete".

The Nightly News: you always want only one episode, but the most recent one, so every day TiVo should replace the old one it has with a new one. "Keep at most 1 episode" and "Keep until space needed".

Hmmm, I'll have to try that.

I do exactly what Hunter recommends for both game shows & nightly news.

However, I do like the suggestion for "pausing" Season Passes.

That is what I do as well for things like "The Simpson's" and such but I think the suggestion has merit, especially on a full/near full TIVO. I would rather have TIVO delete a couple of the Simpson's episodes to record the latest CSI rather than not record CSI. I think TIVO should be able to better manage what gets removed after Suggestions than it does at the moment.

It would be nice if I could tell TIVO that if it has space and is not recording anything at this time to record a filler show (Simpson's, L&O, Trading Spaces, etc) and I don't care how many it records, as long as they are also the first (or second depending on how you feel about Suggestions) to go when a higher priority show needs to be recorded and needs space.

I actually like it when TIVO records shows I like as Suggestions because I know I will have a bunch around if I want to watch them but I also know that they won't stop a First-Run show from being recorded.

As for pausing Season Passes or Wishlist, I agree.

The suggestion of pausing season passes is nice because it is very annoying to delete them, especially since you can only add them back when they are in the guide, not whenever you think about it.

FYI, it has been requested before, usually termed as suspending season passes or vacation mode.

An option like "keep for X days" would be nice instead of the keep until I delete. It would keep Sponge Bob Square Pants from recording 15 times a day while still allowing TiVo to automatically clear it out when space is needed....

You can do this today by making the SP limit 3 and changing it to Save Until I Delete. It will record 3 shows, then stop recording until you delete one or more of the 3. I use this every day for kid shows.

You can do this on the same screen as Keep Until I Delete. It is Keep until: and the date you want to keep it until.
