Jonus Or Daniel on Stargate
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I was disappointed with the first two hours of Stargate. I'm really just mad about Jonus. They should have told shanks to go blo@ himself! I really liked Jonus and felt he brought allot of life back into the franchise. I was really hoping they would keep both on. Anybody else have any thoughts about this?

They've certainly left enough leeway to bring him back for a few stories. I expect that the Goa'uld aren't going to leave Colonna alone, especially once they discover that the people there are more ideal hosts than the Taree.

It leaves a lot open for Daniel as well. Coming back from the ascended plain could have left him with some important insight/knowledge to help the fight against Anubus. It may take a while before he has all of his memories, and it could help the writers expand his character using his astral experience as a reason for changes.
Not really a spoiler, just being careful.:)
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Not to mention that what Anubus did to him in the past season finale might have consequences.

I just started watching SG-1 a month or so ago, and I've only seen the re-runs of season 2 and about a third of season 6 (which was re-run on Fridays until season 7 started). But having seen one season of Daniel Jackson and 1/3 season of Jonas Quinn I'd have to say I like Daniel better. The team "chemistry", for lack of a better term, just seems to click better with him.
Maybe Daniel gets stale and boring by the end of season 5, I'll know in a few months when I'm caught up on re-runs. Maybe with another season Jonas would have seemed a better fit, or maybe season 6 was just weak to begin with, but that's where I am right now.

The problem with Daniel, in my opinion, is that after 2-3 years, the actor clearly didn't want to be there. By the last year, he was just sucking the energy out of every scene he was in. Jonas was a monumental improvement, just because he clearly DID want to be there.
I only hope that in his absence, Shanks has realized that without Stargate, he doesn't have a career, and will approach his second run with renewed enthusiasm.

I think the writer's were making Daniel a bit stale and didn't know where to go with the character. So Michael Shanks said goodbye. Now there are a lot of new opportunities for this character, as I said above.

So, you think he met Charisma Carpenter up there in the ascended plane and found her really really REALLY annoying? ;)

Hey, you never know.:D Or she kicked him out. Interesting that Daniel came back naked and so did Angel on BtVS.

I agree with u about the Carpenter thing.

Unlike MG, I didn't think Daniel was sucking the life out of scenes but I did agree with Shanks that his character was growing less dimentional... important in the 'brain' episodes and near useless or unimportant in the 'action' episodes.
I was disappointed that they sent Jonus off "to the academy", I think they could have kept him around but then again, Jonus really didn't have a dynamically different character then Daniel so it would have been like having 2 Daniels around---
Feel bad for Parker Lewis.... hope he didn't buy a new house or anything counting on season 7 paychecks but then again I think they weren't sure about a season seven when he walked in the door.
Any yes, had he run into Charisma Carpenter on the higher planes he would have begged to be dropped naked from 10,00 feet without a parachute.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned yet that he actually can lose. ;)

..and so did John Doe. AH ha! These shows must all tie together. We'll never know if Doe descended from a higher plain though because FOX ARE IDIOTS and cancelled it.

So how come it's only guys who come back naked?
We'll have to see how the Terminatrix in T3 shows up when she comes back in time.

The actress has said that it is a traditional arrival.
Pant pant drool drool.
(Did I say that out loud?)

The actress who looks suspiciously like Alyssa Milano but isn't? Or at least that's what I think.
Corin Nemic played an interesting Harold Lauder in that ABC "sterilized" version of The Stand a few years back. I must admit, I didn't think he fit the part at first but now (I bought the DVD on special) I think he did a pretty decent job given the material.
I didn't watch any of the episodes with Jonas so I can't really compare the two characters.

Anubis did nothing (and said so to his First Prime Jaffa). Daniel was stopped by another ascended, most likely Oma.

As if you can believe a Goa'uld.:)

I'd expect a Goa'uld to take full credit in front of his Jaffa to elevate his godlike status. It's not good for the faith to suggest there's another being able to do what he cannot.

Maybe Anubus didn't know he did anything, I think something may be hidden. We'll wait and see. :)

Was another version of The Stand produced? I thought the ABC mini series was the only version. I seem to remember Stephen King said he oversaw this one personally because he did not like the way some of his other movies turned out.
Overall I thought the ABC mini series while "sterilized" was pretty true to the book.

That's the thing about these Goa'uld--they change their bodies, but the name stays the same. Very confusing.
Hey, Ereth--did her eyes ever glow? Did she make you her Jafa? Got a worm in your gut now?
[Mental note to self--avoid personal contact with Ereth and Anubis.]

No, the ABC miniseries is the one I was referring to.

Oh, if you folks want to see female nudity, check out the premiere on the Season 1 DVD. This is certainly something that did not air on US television!

I watched the premirer on DVD and I didn't notice that. Keep in mind that the show was a Showtime original, so thay may have allowed nudity. I know they sure did for Jeremiah!:D
What time stamp should I look for on that first episode?
Posted by: stevel
"Children of the Gods", 1 hour, 2 minutes.
