Seriously? And with no NDA?

Posted by: rsnaider

I guess you never read the NDA. You may have been selected, but with this post I am sure you will not get anything.

Posted by: DrStrange

You may not even get to keep it during the beta test now.

I had no NDA to read... If I did, I would never talk about it. Mybe they forgot to put in the NDA.

Posted by: etsolow

Well, in that case - let's get some details!!

Did you get an e-mail? Did that e-mail mention anything about not disclosing anything?

I WANT HD TIVO!!!!

Stomps feet and throws hands in air

Posted by: rphooper

OK I'm jellous. Is this the Directv version or the SA one? How many people did you have to bribe? Is it arriving in a Armored car or was it on the Fedex truck I saw on the news from West Verginia Yesterday, floating in a river.

An HDTV with a HDTiVo built-in? Not sure I'd like that. What happens if you want a new TV? You can't migrate the TiVo to the new TV...

Well, I think it slides into a big slot like a data port, so you could slide the TiVo out and connect it into the new Tv.

I just check the FedEx tracking, it was last scanned in W Virginia. should be here anyday now.

Wow, a TiVo product that is already in beta, sans NDA, that I've never heard of?

I don't think so.

Leon, are you having a bit of fun with us? ;)

Only if the new TV had the same "slot". I call BS on this post... Be sure to take pictures when it comes.

Read his sig, folks. I see major bogosity here.

I guess I'll never understand the thrill some people get from fake posts such as these.

Soon, hopefully by the end of the year.

Posted by: etsolow

No, but it's in the works. Supposedly it will be released around the end of the year.

TiVo Unveils New DVR Design That Supports HDTV

If they couldn't find enough beta testers with HDTV, then I doubt there would be much hope of selling many of these things.

My question, which I posed on another thread, is:

Is it going to be worth shelling out the money for a tivo that will be only recording 10 channels (at max). I recently got a HD tv and have digital cable HD service with Comcast. I currently have 6 channels of HD service.

If you go to DirecTV's HD service, you only have 4 dedicated channels to HD service along with HD antenna for local channels.

Now I spend a nice chunk of change for my cable service, but I'm just not sure if I'll go out and buy a new HDTivo to record limited programming.

Thoughts?

Posted by: etsolow

As far as I've heard, all models of HD TiVos will also be able to record standard definition programming.

Right?

No... not me!!:D I will admit, I forgot to check my E-mail before posting the hoax! It would be my luck to have this very thing happen and then blow it like this :D

Well, it's funny to see how people get so use to a set format.

If they would of read the sig it would of gave it away.

Those who was just playing along thanks. ;) :D

I wonder why Tivo is only sending you one of them to test... they told me they are sending me 3 of them, so I can test out the centralized recording feature that allows you to share one big To Do List, Season Passes, etc. among all of them. I just checked, and TiVoBill is about halfway to my house with them (they didn't trust FedEx to deliver them to me).

It would be worth it to me. Right now, I'm at the mercey of the schedule that they put out, so I miss alot of HDTV programming. I could watch more if it could be time shifted. It's only a few channels right now, but more and more are coming out.

Rumor has it that Comcast will be testing a new HD PVR in my area (Philly) this fall. I think it's a Motorola 6200 series box. I'm going to try my best to get one. I'd rather have a TiVo, but I'll try the Comcast box.

Posted by: Kan

I suppose it's a matter of the value of HD programming. Personally I don't see much programming at all on Comcast. Of course I don't have ESPN or Discovery in HD (when is Comcast going to get those channels is my biggest question!!)

The few movies on HBO shown in HD is nice, but who knows how much this HDTivo is going to cost.

What we really want is a HD content. Then the HDTiVo should fall in line.

Posted by: Breacagan

I have plenty of HD content available on RCN. All I need is a high-definition TiVo that is compatible with my cable system.

Oops. Maybe by Thanksgiving next year.

Not sure how much faster you are expecting the industry to move. Already 12 HDTV channels between satellite and locals in most markets. I barely watch 4 channels of TV.

Posted by: LoadStar

Heh - I was about to get really annoyed, having just updated my beta app, only to hear someone else already was receiving beta product.

I guess I'm slightly humor impaired for today. :)

Posted by: Kan

I don't think there are 12 channels of HD in most markets.

In LA with Comcast Digital I get 6. With DirecTV, you would get 8 or 9 (if we're counting HDNet). Of course to get DirecTV HD, you have to shell out the 500+ bucks for a HD dish and then another 100 bucks for a local HD antenna.

And on top of that shell out cash for a HDTivo?

I'm all for having great gadgets, but an HDTivo in this environment with the lack of HD content doesn't seem to me such a prudent buy.

Posted by: BrettStah

$500 for an "HD Dish"? What is an "HD Dish"?

Posted by: Kan

My understanding is that you need a special HD dish to recieve HD channels from DirecTV. The 500 bucks is for the Dish and HD reciever.

I do see that DirecTV has added Espn and Discovery HD channels to their lineup.

(Damn you Comcast...Lets get on it.)

Posted by: DJRobX

Yes, we have Comcast HDTV available now too. That's a big plus. There isn't enough content to warrant me switching back to cable to use it, at least until there's some way to PVR it.

About the only show I actually watch that's being broadcast in HD is CSI. And naturally, Comcast is missing CBS. *Smashes forehead repeatedly against the wall*

Posted by: Kan

Sopranos in HD is pretty cool. Also, Attack of the Clones was cool. Of course the movie sucks, but it looked cool on my screen! Better than any DVD.

There aren't many shows shown during Primetime on the local channels (at least nothing I saw). However, the basketball and hockey finals looked AMAZING.

Anyone know where we can give Comcast nudges to add HD channels? I really really really want ESPN HD and Discovery HD.

Posted by: Smokeball

I'm so frustrated watching HDTV in real-time ... been a TIVO user since "Day 1". Got one for my wife and one for me. Also bought TIVOs for my adult children so they can watch a little TV after the grandkids are asleep. ;)

I'm getting two Winegard outside antennas put up on Friday so I can get the local HDTV channels in my area. Getting about four channels with my DISH subscription.

I would prefer a TIVO HDTV PVR but it sure sounds like they are dragging their feet. The questionnaire I filled out sounded like they were not even considering built-in dual receivers.

I may end up opting for the DISH 921 PVR. That model doesn't have the nice convenient features of a TIVO but it does have built-in dual receivers allowing you to record two different programs at the same time.

And mainly it sounds like it will be available very, very soon.

Anyone here know anything about when TIVO HDTV and/or DISH 921 PVR will be available?

Posted by: smak

So i get a SA HDTIVO with 120gb hard drive, i record 3 hours Hd, 8 at Best, 8 at high, 10 at medium and 15 at basic. How much time do i have left to record..

Head explodes!
