I just installed the new Apple Airport update for my Airport Extreme base station and I can now put the base station in mixed mode (802.11 b/g) and have my Linksys USB adapter find it and use it to download TiVo data!

You could always put the base station into mixed mode. This wasn't addressed with the 5.1 Firmware that was released today. So it works now in mixed mode with the linksys? I have the same setup as you but I never thought the problem was with the base station.

I was never able to put it in mixed mode and have it work with the linksys. Not until today. Perhaps there were updates between when I first tried (the day 4.0 was released) and now that made mixed mode work. I never tried until today when the final 802.11 g Aiport firmware was released by Apple.
