Someone on these forums told me in another thread that they thought version 3 images for DTivos could not be used for others with a different motherboard version. I'm not talking about the MORON(tm) issue. In my case I want to restore a v3 image from one DSR6000 to another. (I can't use an earlier version because the modem is blown and I need to use an external.)

Can anyone give me the definitive answer about whether v3 DTivo images are universal within the same brand/model?

You should be fine. It'll give you an error #51, but just do a clear and erase everything and it'll be fine.
