Amazing Race

Anyone tired of hearing, "our husbands are professional athletes" yet?

I'm watching Tivo delayed, and I just said that outloud!

I might just throw something at the tv if I hear it again.

Well, this thread wasn't really spoiling anything until those last two lines of your message, since the ladies have been making that statement all along.

I've been tired of it since the 3rd time they said it on the first episode. I suppose that the producers do include that at the beginning of each episode so that new viewers can get to know the contenstants. I do find it interesting that Chip and Reichen are now just "Married" and no longer "Gay/Married" (unless I've missed it, I don't pay much attention to the captions after the first couple of eps).

I don't mind the little caption description of the "relationship". To be blunt I forget a lot about the straight couples -- which ones are married/divorced/dating/friends/more than friends but less than married/polyamourous/polymorphous etc.

It's when it keeps coming out of their mouths that annoys me. Could one of those two women start a comment without saying "we're married to professional atheletes"? Couldn't one of them say "as wives and mothers"? Or "as a couple of settled in not so young not so old women"?

It's SO clear that their entire self-identity is wrapped up in being married to professional athletes. God help them if their husbands get hurt. Or when eventually the poor guys have to retire.

Did the NFL-wives bother you when they were rappelling down the cliff? On the other hand, I suppose it was less annoying than flo..

I finally watched my first episode of this race and am certainly already tired of hearing it. :p

Reminds me of last season. There was a couple where the woman's brother was killed in NY on 9/11. This was sad (of course), but by the third time it was mentioned it was really getting on several people's nerves (as posted here).

The producers never seem to tire of repetition.

As annoying as it is, it may serve the larger purpose of keeping people up to speed with who's who.

Never underestimate the short attention span of America's viewing audience.

Oh, and like the gay/married description, whatever happened to the dating/VIRGINS description for the young couple (I forget their names). Now I think they're just dating.

So did something happen they didn't show?

No I still saw the Dating 11 years/Virgins tagline for them. Oh and the NFL wifes need to GO!
