Sony Replaced Hard Drive - TIVO won't work

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I had a hard drive failure in my 30-hour Sony SVR 2000, and I sent it back to Sony to be repaired. After 3 weeks, I finally got it back.

I plugged it in and got to the 'Guided Setup' screen. When I attempted to use my remote to get started, the TIVO would not respond. I couldn't use the 'Select' button and I could not use the right arrow to go the next screen. I called Sony and I tried to 'reprogram' the remote, and that didn't work. I changed the batteries (I added new ones), and I also turned my TV off and on to make sure that the remote wasn't dead. The remote controls the TV with no problems.

I also noticed that after I plugged in my TIVO that I none of the lights are coming on. I don't see the red, green, or yellow lights at all. Sony asked me to send it back, but I don't want to go through the hassle of waiting 3 weeks to get it back only to find another problem.

Any suggestions?

Cross posting the same thing in multiple Forums is frowned upon. It's in Section B part 5 of the FAQ:

Perhaps the LED board on the front panel is not connected to the mainboard?

If there's a small switch on the side of your Sony TiVo remote (there is on my Sony T60 remote), make sure it is in the right position.

When you press buttons on your remote, does the LED on the remote light up?

When you power up your Sony, none of the LEDs light, even briefly? As Robert S just said above, the repair technician may have forgotten to connect the front panel cable to either the front panel circuit board, or to the motherboard.
