Problems with Turbonet and me being dumb!

I've been running a UK TiVo, with Turbonet, for about 6 months now. A few days ago I came back from Uni (where the TiVo was controlling an NTL cable box) back home, where I wanted to hook it up to a Freeview box.
I have been using the Turbonet to update the listings no problem now for a while, so that was OK.
However, I decided that, rather than just run the guided setup, I'd do the whole reset, and get rid of the season passes, thumbs data, and all that, as it had all got a bit crowded, what with my housemates and I using the system.
Having done that, I'm now at the position of starting the guided setup. However, the darn thing doesn't want to connect and retrieve any data! The appropriate data lights on the network switch are flickering, but after about 10 minutes trying to dial, it gives 'number unavailable'.
This suggests it's trying but failing to use the network card, as I would expect a complaint of 'no dial tone' if it was trying to use the modem to dial out. Also, while I can ping the TiVo, I can apparently no longer telnet into it since I did the reset.
Have I screwed it up? What's the best method to procede?

Ooh, it might be OK. I did the ,#401 thing (which I thought was only relevant for Series 2 TiVos?) and it connected fine!
