I hadn't really seen Angel before this season... but figured I would give it a shot so set up a season pass for it. Well, I never got around to watching them during the season, but saved them until the summer. I liked it alot! I caught on pretty quickly to the plot lines, and watched all episodes over the last 4-5 days or so. The season finale was a little of a letdown after the second-to-last episode wrapped up most of the loose ends of the season's plots.

I loved the season finale. I mean:

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)

What was the thing with Gunn and the huge Cat. I hope he's a werepanther now. And think of all the stuff Fred can develop in that lab. Now the big bads are going to have to be huge to compete with their resources. Or they become the Big Bads. :D

Well... the odd thing about the "season finale" was that it wasn't really written as a season finale - that's what the previous episode was written as. The last episode of the season was written almost with a "series pilot" concept - it was written to "reset" the series in preparation for the new season.

And yes, when you compare season 7 of Buffy and season 4 of Angel, there's no comparison - Angel was a far better written series this last season than Buffy was.

There's a fan created title sequence floating the internet that inserted the new character(s) for next season... it looks really good. I can't wait to see how they work the characters in.

If you liked Season 4, keep your eyes peeled for Seasons 1-3 in syndication on TNT leter this fall... although, not 100% sure when.

Also, season 1 is on DVD, season 2 DVD set streets on September 2nd (these are Region 1, US).

In regards to the writing, I have to agree for the most part. The couple episodes of Buffy that Joss Wheadon wrote are the only exception.
