From DarkHorizons.com:
Ok for those Aussie and UK fans who've not caught up yet with the end of Season 2, look away now because executive producer Howard Gordon talked with Zap2It this week about what we can expect next season after the shock events in the aforementioned finale. The most notable change will be a time jump - "It's going to be about two, two-and-a-half years later. Many things may have changed. It's a fair amount of time for old wounds to have healed and new ones to have been inflicted". Therefore its likely the cliffhanger elements involving Palmer and Jack will only be referred to rather than solved on the screen. The cast looks to undergo a shake-up as well with the characters of Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson Jerald) and Kate Warner (Sarah Wynter) are not signed on as regular cast members next season though that news is surprising as Wynter indicated things get 'steamy' next season between her and Jack to the Aussie press recently. Their exclusion however does not mean they're entirely out, and it seems almost certain they'll appear in a few eps much like Nina (Sarah Clarke) did this year - "Nothing is impossible. In fact, Kate does make an appearance, but she's not been cast as a regular. The same goes for Penny. This is real fluid. They are characters that live in our universe, and it's entirely possible that they'll be back". Thanks to '48'.

I give this news a big . I liked that each season so far has been like one long episode, with some references to the previous season but not a direct continuation of it. With the cliffhanger this season, I was thinking they might try to pick up right where they left off, which I think would be a big mistake. I think it's great the next season is set 2+ years later, it will provide a fresh start.

woohoo! Plus, it will give them all time to sleep. :)
And maybe the kiddo will grow up and stop getting herself into stupid jams. Or maybe she'll be off at college. Her storyline did nothing for me last season.

Well, I hope they do a bit more then just refer to the cliff hangers. I would like to find out what happened with David Palmer in some detail. If they just mention it in passing without some resolution that wouldn't be much of a follow up to wait all summer long on.
Guess I shouldn't complain, at least it didn't get cancelled!

Oh, I'm faithful that they will give us complete resolution. I'm glad that it won't all be in great detail, though. I guess after the first season being all about saving Palmer, I don't want the 3rd season to be the same theme.

Wait, so Kate's role gets reduced, but we've still got to put up with Kim? Can't they just throw her in a mental institute, considering how disturbed she was after she shot the guy at the end of season 2...I think this would be a great answer.

No, no, no!
A despondent Kim loses her way and becomes an exotic dancer. Each week focuses on her and her workmates on the job. How it relates to the main 24 plot...who cares?
