Help! I just formatted by T-60 volume before backup...

I don't suppose there is any chance that a FORMAT is recoverable (from NT into NTFS) if I haven't put anything on the disk since the format?
I was rebooting in windows to format a DIFFERENT drive so I could copy a FAT32 backup since all my partitions are NTFS and I got mixed up and formatted the Maxtor to NTFS.
If there is a way to recover, please let me know. Otherwise, first person that can PM me with a directory for a v3.1 T-60 (I have a p4 card) I'd be very grateful.
So sad....

Do you mean you've got the NT signature on the disk, or that you actually partitioned and formatted the TiVo disk?

In XP Disk Management it indicates Disk 1 Dynamic 37.28GB Online Volume F NTFS. At this point I've managed to confuse myself enough that I'm not sure if I tried to do a full format or a quick format. I was just trying to get a FAT partition on a different drive and got confused....

That does sound like more than just a signature. Looks like you do need a backup.
I take it you missed the bit about Windows NT making your TiVo unbootable if you boot it with a TiVo drive attached?

I just tried to mount it from the CD
Jul 4 16:34:05 tivobootdisk kern.err kernel: Warning! NTFS volume verision is Win2k+: Mounting read-only.
I knew that the drive wouldn't mount under XP, when I booted in XP I was intending to format a partition on another hard drive so that I could do the backup. Initially it was not at all clear to me in the Hinsdale instructions that NTFS is incompatible. I was completely unprepared for that and it threw me off. Really wish I wouldn't have lost my programs, but live and learn.
Isn't it less of a hassle to get the v3.1 than v2.5???

The point was, even if you'd formatted the right drive, XP would still have put a signature on the drive which would have made it unbootable (it is fixable, but not trivially).
Never allow Windows NT (including 2000 and XP) to boot while you've got a TiVo drive attached.
Sure, get a 3.1 if you can find one, but if all you can find is a 2.5 image then that should work for you too.

Robert,
Oh...OK I follow what you are saying.
Well I DEFINITELY missed any mention in the Hinsdale instructions that the backup could not be made to a NTFS volume. That is why I booted back into XP in the first place.
*Sigh*
Oh well at least I'm clear now that I won't be able to get it back.
