I have a philips 6000 that has a bad modem in it. The software version is 2.5. I want to upgrade the software to at least 3.0 so that I can install the turbonet card so that I can: A, connect to tivo & B, put my tivo on my network. Can anyone tell me if I can download the software manually and install it to my tivo harddrive by mounting the harddrive to my pc?

If you can find a 3.1 backup file you can restore it to your TiVo (full instructions in Hinsdale above). Of course, this will wipe your recordings and SP's etc.
