Toothbrush...Swimsuit...TiVo Doll?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey, if you're headed out the door on vacation, remember to take your TiVo doll with you.

You might even want to snap a photo of you and the little guy in some exotic location.

I'm just sayin'. ;)

Darn you!! You should have told us earlier! I would have taken TiVo to Hawaii back in May. See if I ever participate in a marketing campaign again!!

;)

TiVo guy... riding a pony

Posted by: phone1

I was just thinking that my TiVo doll doesn't get out much lately. Maybe we should at least have a "take your TiVo doll to work day." :)

Posted by: jlb

Darn, wish I has seen this sooner.....

My 5 yr. old daughter takes horseback riding lessons on Saturdays. Now THAT would have been a true TiVO-guy riding a pony.........

Posted by: TiVoPony

Ponies in the picture are probably worth double points. :)

I think I'll be able to get a picture of my TiVo doll, with the Pony, on national TV. Will that count? :D

Posted by: Satchel

Thanks...I just got back from a 3700 mile lap roadtripping around the country...crap...

Posted by: RobD

Dang - and I just got back from South Korea four weeks ago. The little guy would have looked cute sitting with the millions of Koreans downtown watching the "Dream Match" on the big screens!! Oh, double dang, I don't even have a TiVo doll. Guess I gotta stop buying TiVo units and start buying dolls instead!

Posted by: MighTiVo

Now that is the kind of heads up we like to see around here, Thanks!

Unfortunately I have no TiVo Doll....

Guess I could get one here:

How about a shot of a TiVo SunShade on vacation?
Or perhaps a cleverly placed TiVo cling?

OR HERE!

I wish I'd heard this before I spent 9 days going to Alaska and Vancouver!

Maybe Photoshop will work!

This sounds like what a clothing store in Newport RI does. The store, Potters, collects pictures of people holding their trademark yellow shopping bag in exotic locales. They have the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, North Pole, South Pole, Africa, Taj Mahal, etc.

Posted by: futerfas

I have a picture of my brother hugging a TiVo doll... sort of :)

Jake

But I don't have time to get a TiVo doll before I go to Sweden!!!

Posted by: jsmeeker

Now you know why you should attend the TiVo gatherings.

Dagnabbit, I'm telling http://www.ipodlounge.com/ that you're stealing their "Around the World" idea!
:D

How's this one? TiVo guy at Mount Everest base camp...

Posted by: futerfas

Nice!

Posted by: trainman

Hmm, someone didn't do a good enough job of getting the mountain in the background of the picture. How do we know that wasn't taken in Chicago last winter? :D

I'm just jealous because I don't have a TiVo plush. I have a TiVo sticker on my car, though...think they'll accept a shot of it sitting in a beautiful parking garage in scenic North Hollywood, California?

Posted by: blips

Rats! I just got back from St. Louis pony riding (well, really horseback) and he could have gone up to the arch. Phooy!

Posted by: Philosofy

I wonder if Knoxville, TN is considered an exotic location?

Posted by: rickertk

If you go to the Knoxville "Wod Fir" and have it's picture taken in the wig-sphere, that's pretty exotic.

What if I get a picture taken at the Grammar Rodeo?

Posted by: markp99

One of my favorites, TiVo guy underwater... :)

Just got back from my summer vacation and I have some photos to edit (no, no Photoshop tricks, an actual TiVo plushie went to every location by hand) before I post...

Mr. TiVo's Adirondack Adventure!

Coming soon to a thread near you. (And it has a happy ending!)

Posted by: Hunter Green

All photos in this tour are unretouched save for cropping, resizing, and combining. All images depict real events. When in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Mr. TiVo recently took me and Siobhan on a trip to the Adirondacks, particularly to Lake George:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/01lake.jpg

On the way we stopped off in Rutland, Vermont where Mr. TiVo relaxed by climbing a tree and examining its unusual seed-pods:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/02rutland.jpg

As soon as Mr. TiVo got to Lake George, he heard about the Painted Pony Rodeo and all we heard from him was:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/03want.jpg
"I Want A Pony!"

But eventually we got him calmed down and took him to the Upper Hudson River Railroad. Mr. TiVo saw the historic train station where Teddy Roosevelt first learned that he'd become the President:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/04teddy.jpg

...and read all about the great man. Mr. TiVo's conclusion: three thumbs up! Then Mr. TiVo boarded the train for a scenic ride alongside the Hudson:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/05train.jpg

And afterwards visited the attached museum and learned about the old way people used to do things, before computers, cars, and cellphones:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/06museum.jpg

We didn't let Mr. TiVo see the display of what TV used to be like before he came along. It would have broken his heart.

(to be continued...)

Posted by: Hunter Green

Instead, we visited the source of the largest garnet crystals in the world, the Barton Garnet Mine Tours, where Mr. TiVo relaxed while searching for valuable gems:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/07garnet.jpg

Then Mr. TiVo took us spelunking at the Adirondack's only cave attraction, the Natural Stone Bridge And Caves:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/08spelunk.jpg

Later, Mr. TiVo interrupted our vacation with urgent business. As the most advanced representative of Earth, Mr. TiVo was called on to meet with a pair of emissaries from another world:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/09aliens.jpg

Later Mr. TiVo explained to me that the one on the left was an ambassador for the Poh N'ee race, with whom he was negotiating to get Earth inducted into the Galactic Council. We didn't make it yet -- he said the Poh N'ee had said something about reality television had disqualified us -- but we can try again in another galactic year (that's about 250 million Earth years -- by then we'll probably have evolved past reality TV, they said). Oh, and the other alien was just a beast of burden, which the first alien called simply "Bob".

With this weighty business behind us, we decided to relax with a little shopping at the outlet malls:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/10malls.jpg

After we'd been to a few stores, Mr. TiVo noticed which ones we spent the most time in, and made a few Suggestions about other stores we might like. Most of them were good, but in one of them, we realized Mr. TiVo had a hidden, personal agenda. In the end, Mr. TiVo got what he wanted:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~huntergreen/tivo/11pony.jpg

...his own pony. He's decided to name him "Bob".

Why do you guys keep the tags on your stuffed TiVos? Surely you don't think that they are "collectable".

I cut the tags off of my stuffed TiVos and let them run free! Run free little TiVos!

Posted by: LtSparky

Hunter,

I don't know whether to be impressed or concerned. :D I think I'm both. Well done. :)

My wife was the one who wasn't sure about taking it off... I got tired of it while on the way back and finally cut it off. Should have done so before the pictures.

Posted by: TiVoPony

Excellent! :D

Great job Hunter! I like eclectic vacations like that...trains, aliens, and ponies...a bit of everything.

Two years ago we visited a trout farm, a cheese factory, and a gem museum. It was the best. :)

But if you cut the tags off of them then we have no way to track yo... nevermind. :D

A-HA! The privacy agreement enforces anonymous data collection from TiVos, not TiVo Dolls! No wonder Huntington knew to wish me a happy birthday.

I think it's time for Mr TiVo Doll to take a trip to the Lead-Shielded Vault!

Posted by: JohnJr

Well done Hunter!!! Funny stuff!!!

Now how long am I going to spend trying to glean a backdoor code from that sentence?!? (How about ThumbsUp-Forward-ChanDown-Forward-Guide-Mute?)

Hunter, those are awesome. And I like the tag - it shows that the photos are legit, or else that you're really awesome with Photoshop.

The original post reminds me of the old urban legend about a camera and a toothbrush. Let's hope no one does this to our beloved TiVo dolls!
