A Suggestion for Tivo's Suggestions

When I look at what TiVo has lined up to record as a suggestion it is "sometimes" stuff that I either
a) dont wan't to see or
b) have already seen.
The problem is that there is no option to delete the suggestions before thay are recorded. I know that Tivo suggestions are recorder over before anything else if TiVo is full but I like to keep my TiVo "tidy".
I would like to see a "Don't record this" option in the TiVo suggestion menu. Please, please, please consider doing this for the next version I love my TiVo I don't always love my TiVo's suggestions.

I agree, it sometimes seems to suggest the same things over and over.

I agree. But my rationale is not to keep Tivo "tidy". If I am not going to watch the suggestion that it is going to tape, then I'd rather it be able to record a different suggestion at that time.

I want the TiVo to never record a show it has recorded in the past as a suggestion. If it has been recorded, do not record it again, unless it is something that is season passable (in other words, unless it is a show that has "episodes").

If this is not possible, then how about not recording any shows that actually have a thumbs up on them. Use the thumbs up to decide what OTHER shows I might like. If I gave a show a thumbs up, it means I have seen it already, why would I want to watch it again?!?!

Ick! I find the thumbs up to be your best hope for Suggestions being stuff you like. I try to mark all the shows I like (but wouldn't want to bump my regular recordings for) with two thumbs up. That way, when TiVo gets bored, it likes to record the stuff I've marked up. It isn't perfect, but it works as kind of a "super-low priority season pass". I find that the two or three thumbs up shows record pretty much every time there isn't a conflict -- and I like it that way.

Of course, expanding my TiVos to 68 hours has made it sorta moot. My biggest problem now is that I have way too much stuff in there all the time. I can't possibly watch it all.

Can't say that I like that idea. I agree to the proposed feature of "don't record this show again for X days/weeks/months" but NEVER record it again? What if that show that you enjoyed is on again next year? Do you really never want to see it again??!

I'm not making this comment as an excuse for the suggestions not being deletable in advance, but they are identified with the special TiVo logo and are placed at the end of the Plan list, and they are the first programs to be overwritten, so why not just ignore them, or blow them away? It's not much different that getting over the compulsion I had, when I first got my TiVo, to watch EVERY recorded program. Now, if I don't have the time, I might extend the delete time a few days, but if I haven't watch a show after a short time, I just let TiVo delete it. Same for unwanted suggestions. Just ignore them.

Easy enough to do (and sometimes thats what happens) but just like TiVo Fan pointed out if I could tell TiVo "not" to record a show that I have already seen on Tuesday at 3:00 then it is free to pick another show on Tuesday at 3:00 that I havent seen.
