Stripperella

Finally, TNN started an episode of Stripperella on time. The first two were started 5-10 min late, so I didn't get to see the end. :(
Absolutely gratuitous... and they know it. :) Not bad for 30 minutes out of my life.
And the rating is the best: "CFFA: Cartoon For F***in' Adults" :)

I actually like Stripperella. It's very light and silly, and I don't think there's a single moment where it takes itself seriously. And that's fine by me!
There are much better shows out there, but I'll keep this as an SP for a while.

well, I certainly like it better than the "New & Improved" Ren & Stiimpy......

Martin: What do you mean 30 minutes?? Isn't it only 20+ with our TiVo's??

I gotta tell you - the 2 episodes I've TiVo'ed so far are very entertaining. I'm keeping a SP despite derision from my wife. They tend to poke fun at the superhero/secret agent thing - it also allows Pamela Anderson to poke fun at herself, although I don't know if that's really intentional or not.
The show reminds me a lot of "The Tick". Same humor.

The sex jokes are probably the least funny aspect of the show. The superhero and secret agent jokes, however, are amusing. I think I'll keep the SP for now. (And I pad 5 minutes on the end.)

Time to put those parental controls in the TiVo and TV to the test, Mark!

13 year old male. Just the right age for Stripperella. Nothing going on there that would send a 13 year old boy off the deep end. Remember back when we was 13..guys ;)

Maybe it's a 13 year old female who'll want to grow up to be a stripper. Not that there's anytbing wrong with that. :)

Minor complaint here but I think a valid one that further supports my thesis that this particular network is being run by a room full of monkeys (no human being would spend millions on planning, promotions and court costs to name a network Spike TV)
I think Stripperella is a decent enough guilty pleasure show, but due to TNN/Spike TV’s unwillingness to start or end the show on time it definitely requires a pad. Fine with me, I’ll pad. But here’s my problem; I have a M-F 11:30 conflict that prevents me from padding like I’d need to.
But still no problem, I’ll just pad the alternate recording…which also airs in the 11:00 to 11:30 timeslot???
What network does this? Justice League, Dead Zone, Trigger Happy TV, Lucky, The Shield, Kim Possible there are literally dozens of weekly cable shows that have alternate airings, and none of those shows use a “different-day-same-time-slot” formula. They all move the show around the schedule so if you can’t catch a show at one time, it airs at another. I was under the impression that was Scheduling 101 at a network? Stripperella is a decent show, but if the network isn't going to help me out with either a consistent start time or an alternate time slot airing I’m not going to break my back to watch it.

I set a SP for 'Ren & Stimpy', 'Gary the Rat' and 'Stripperella'. After the second week, I got rid of 'Ren & Stimpy'. After the third week, I got rid of 'Gary the Rat'. As of right now, I don't think I'll be getting rid of 'Stripperella'. I think it's a pretty good show.
I especially liked the episode with the villain Cheapo. I loved the line after he stole the world's biggest cubic zirconia. "I'm a hundredaire!!"

I just cancelled my SP after watching the "Cheapo" episode. After the first one, I thought the show may be worth checking out some more if it improved a bit, but IMHO, the jokes all fall flat. Neither my wife or I laughed once during the episode. Seems that all Stan Lee is doing these days is pandering to the LCD (he is now doing a superhero show about Hugh Hefner and the bunnies).
Fastlane - now that was a guilty pleasure. Striperella is just a waste of time.

My first post on this board and it's about Stripperella. I don't know what that says about me... actually, I guess I do know what that says about me. I think Stripperella is pretty good. I don't laugh out loud and bust a couple of stitches but I do find it to be humorous. I thought Cheapo was a pretty good villain.

Last night's episode, with guest stars Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson as themselves, was just a little too self-indulgent.

I have a problem with striparella. My problem is that super-heroes are supposed to be ethically better than normal human beings. That is because theoretically they can take over the world (As almost any normal human would do) but they don't because they are moral people.
So how can a stripper be a superhero. I mean Strippers are about the lowest beings, just higher on the scale then thieves and prostitutes.
I mean strippers are strippers cause they are lazy and don't want to do normal work. Or they are greedy and can't get away from a humiliating job cause of the money... Now you know this is true... Almost any stripper hates what they do so much that they get drunk to strip. Though some say they like the work, most hate it, yet they keep doing it. There is no dignity in stripping. If there was do you think they would want any of their daughters to take it as a proffesion?....
Stan, of course, was fantastic in th 60's. Now he's just pandering. Maybe he should have made her a spy rather than a superhero.... Spys by nature have to be sneaky and they have to look beyond their dignity.... That would make so much more sence if a stripper was a spy...

Is the "new and improved" Ren & Stimpy done? I keep recording the "Adult Party Cartoon" listing (not the classic show they ahve running) but the Adult one just is showing reruns of classic ones.
Am I recording the wrong thing or was the new ones received so horribly that they took them off and are running old reruns?

Geeze, I never thought I would be defending strippers but I have read stories and articles about them. There are so many reasons for going into the sex trade that one cannot judge the people who do as all being bad or immoral. Some women do it to get through college. Some are single moms with no child support from scumbag father's of their children. Some may do it for a thrill. When I achieve god-hood, I will judge them. As for wanting someone to do it. Well, I have a whole list of professions that I would not want to see a friend go into including stockbroker and lawyer.
As for being lazy, I suspect they do a lot more work for a lot less pay than I do. I also have the benefit of not having a judgemental blue-nosed puritan judge my job as being immoral.

Come to think of it, is Stripperella really a superhero parody at all? What super powers does she have? I think Stan Lee's participation and the secret identity bit may have confused us a bit. Isn't this really just a secret agent parody?

So, do you actually know any strippers or are you just making this up as you go?

Do you really want to argue with someone who professes concern about ethically challenged superheroes taking over the world?
Edited to add: Thank you, fleegle, for putting it more succinctly.

I only watched one episode of Stripperilla so I would not have seen all she can do but her acrobatics were pretty good and she had good support equipment. Think of her like Batman. He has no super powers but is in the Justice League and other super hero groups.
Posted by: Graymalkin
Yes, but Stripperella doesn't patrol the city looking for criminals, either. She responds only when Chief Stroganoff beeps her on the belly ring.
Posted by: doom1701
And all of her equipment (chuckle) is presumably provided by this super secret organization. When she fights crime, it's as a representative of this organization. Even though Batman may have the bat signal and answers Gordon's call, he's independent of the Gotham Police Dept., and falls more into the "hero" realm than Stripperella.
I can't believe we're trying to decide whether this show is about a cartoon erotic dancer/superhero or cartoon erotic dancer/secret agent. Are we analyzing this too much? :D

Chief Stroganoff. I love that name.

Well, if we can determine that this is, in fact, simply a secret agent parody, then mclark11 won't have a problem with the show anymore. Secret agents have to be ethically challenged. It's a job prerequisite.
Just trying to make mclark11 feel better about himself. :D

well i think i've watched all the stripperella episodes so far. it's a pretty good show, entertaining enough that i want to watch it and sometimes i laugh at a wordplay but i don't usually bust out laughing.
i do enjoy the gratuitous things like nipple cutters and islands and mountains shaped like mounds of venus, and even the obvious puns about queen clitoris and pushy galore, but that's the point, thier obvious, it's just cheap though fun humor, just baudy enough to keep it interesting until the next thing explodes...:)
it's all good:)

oh, and as to the superhero/superagent dispute....
maybe she's a superhero like longshot was, no overly obvious powers except agility and luck.

Superhero or secret agent? She has a beeping belly ring, for crying out loud!
Actually, she's the fantasy of a Playboy playmate turned "actress" (quotes intentional!) Someone has built a career on an image, that is, being a fantasy for others. Although you could argue most celebrities do this, it seems that PA's efforts have been a little more gratuitious than most.
So she's the fantasy of a fantasy.
Yup, we're definitely over-analyzing this one. Just watch it if you like it and enjoy the low-brow laughs!

You know, I found myself watching this the other night, and I have to say, it was pretty amusing. I only saw about half of it, but I liked it. It might be worth it just for the character names. "Queen Clitoris" cracked me up.
