I wonder if we can transfer the content of DVD's from a non-copy protected DVD to the TiVo hard drive and edit the content and save it back to new DVD?

Other than two digital to analog conversions and an inability to edit on the TiVo. No problems.

You could use composite out from the DVD -- have the TiVo record that (search for threads on how) -- then output to Tape but run that signal into a DVD recorder.

It would be simpler to go directly to a PC using a video capture card. Edit and then burn.

I was talking about the new dvd-rw/tivo that is coming out.

You mean the Pioneer Elite DVR-57H

What do you conceive as being a potiential stopping point? Just use the analog input...

The DVR-810H and DVR-57H offer analog inputs, enabling consumers to connect a camcorder to the DVD recorder for basic transferring functions. Once the content from the camcorder is stored onto the hard drive, users have the ability to edit the content before burning it to DVD. The newly created DVD-R disc can be played back on most other automobile, home, portable DVD players and DVD-ROM computer drives.
