I originally posted this in the Directivo forum, but now figured I'd get more replies here.....

My situation is this... My CC warrantied TiVos(SAT-T60) modem has gone kaput. I would like to replace the unit (under warranty), but do not want to loose the shows I already have recorded. I would like to backup the original TiVo, with recordings and make a new image with the new TiVo. I remember before that this would not work due to some checks the TiVo did, but I'm not sure if this is still valid. Also, the unit is a SAT-T60, with a P3 card and v 2.5.2. I have the turbonet card installed, so when I get the you haven't called in the last 30 days screen, I reboot the TiVo, and force a daily call via LAN and I get another 30 days!

Anyone with information on how this could be done, please let me know.

Not gonna work unfortunately... When you try to play them back on the new Tivo, it'll give you an error #51 and require a clear and delete everything to get it working correctly. Obviously the clear and delete will get rid of all your programs.

What maharg18 said is correct, however you should check out the deal database forum for information because they have been making some pretty significant advances in doing this over the past few days. If you cannot find the "other" forum PM me your e-mail address and I will send you a link.
