After I have installed turbonet card, I am running Directivo Series 1 Philips dsr6000 software vers. 3, I can ping my tivo, now should I be able to telnet my tivo without installing any additional software? Or do I need to install telnet software? I know that I have to install the ftp software. I read one set of install instructions that talked about telneting the tivo and using that to install the ftp software.

my series 1 SA running version 3.0 already had the telnet and ftp servers installed (not sure if my recent drive uprade put them there or not). Try telneting and see if you get a bash prompt.
