I was in complete shock when I watched on my Tivo the Chrysler Commercial that Tivo is promoting. Two young Children kissing!! What the hell is that crap doing on my Tivo?? Tivo promoting kiddie porn now? I may just cancle my subscription!! Anyone else disgusted in this?

You think 2 children kissing is sexual and therefore pornographic?
I feel sorry for you.
Posted by: julie4evert
Ok, Wow, You two must get off on that stuff. And no, I didnt say I was definitly canceling my subscription. Did you see the commercial I am speaking about?
Posted by: Turtleboy
No, I didn't. Julie, which one was it? I went to the Chyrsler area and didn't see anything like what you are talking about.
Posted by: julie4evert
Ofcourse it is gone now, it was on for several days.

Julie is talking about the excerpt from the film 'the delivery boy' which is in the current crossfire promo.
If you had a wooden dowel implanted surgically in your gluetus maximus, you could conceivably classify this as child pornography. There's even the popsicles, a clever bit of "Lolita" referencing. Note that the kiss is not shown.
Sometimes I really hate people. PV

i FOUND IT, UNDER THE CHRYSLER cROSSFIRE, PICK ON gOING TO eXTREMES CLIP, THERE YOU WILL SEE IT, IT'S JUST CREEPY.
Posted by: MatrixOutsider
This was not even remotely creepy. They were not young children. These kids were in their early teens, about 13 or 14. Also, the "kiss" wasn't shown because the car's rear spoiler popped up and blocked the view when their faces were about 4 inches apart.
The only part that may have caused any problems was the fact that the young teenaged boy was shown to be driving a car. Stop being so naive, silly, and uptight.

Oops, Caps key got stuck I see.

Hmm... I don't have it.

In the North America I grew up in, young teens kissed each other regularly and nobody considered it porn. I see innocent pre-teen & young teen kisses in TV shows & movies and this isn't porn. I didn't see the commercial, but kids kissing is a normal part of life in my experience.

Good grief. Those are not "young children" -- they are teenagers, and it was a kiss, which wasn't even shown on-screen. It was not exploitative or sexualized in any way.
Hardly "kiddie porn" regardless of whether you personally find it "creepy" or not. Just because something bothers you personally doesn't make it pornographic, evil, or otherwise wrong. It just means you don't like it.

Not that I am agreeing with julie4evert but there was something a PINCH unseemly about the commercial I though. It was not on my TiVo but I got to see it because I was up watching TV when the TiVo was recording it. I wonder if it will be available on my TiVo soon.

I'm also not agreeing with julie but some of you are being a bit too hard on her in my opinion. It's one thing to disagree with her (as I have) but it's quite another to say hurtful things about her beliefs. Come on folks, at least be nice!

i thought this post was just taking the piss out of the lazy parents that post on here complaining about yellow-star promotions that their kids get exposed to because the censor filters don't catch them. maybe not.

I never thought of the ad as risque, but it was weird and did nothing to enhance my opinion of the car.
Posted by: cptodd
I also agree that it did not do anything to enhance the car. I don't know if I would say that the ad was risque but I don't think that it was as innocent at folks are making it out to be. A previous poster made reference to Lolita and I think that it is an apt reference. In the end I think it did "sexualize" these children (I guess in my book 13 and 14 year olds are still children) beyond what I thought it should. Was it "nasty"? No. But it was not innocent either. It was made to be suggestive.

Well I didn't see the actual ad because I don't think my cable company airs them... but I watched the entire clip on the website (http://www.chryslermdff.com/festivalfilms.asp "The Delivery Boy")... it's a story of a young boy (the text says he's 9 BTW) and a crush he has... the scene where he is about to kiss the girl (and I think she was in her late teens at the youngest... but it's hard to tell) is a fantasy sequence of his, it's doesn't even actually happen in the narrative. Now granted it was probably taken out of context for the ad... but you really find that offensive? Try to think back when you where nine... didn't you ever have a crush on someone? You weren't thinking about sex... you didn't even know what sex was (well at least I didn't at nine). Look at the part where the girl then kissed her boyfriend and the kid is clearly jealous, the mother realized what is going on... she's not worried about his deviant thoughts... she finds it sweet, her son is growing up.
Well what any of this has to do about cars and tivos.. who knows... I guess this campaign of Chryslers is in response to BMWs short films they had... personally I like seeing short independent films... if a car company wants to bank roll then by all means..

This can't possibly be a serious post...

kenh918, as I recall, the clip on TiVo started just after the CD was put in the player and ended with the rear spoiler going up. The context of it being a dream was not clear, just two kids in a car dressed up and acting like grownups (except for the Popsicles which could be misinterpreted as well)
Viewing the clip in context removes my opinion that it was weird...

This is exactly what it is. Rather than view them from the web, I've set up a recording for all of the films.

Exactly..DaimlerChrysler sponsored a film contest (similar to BMWs last year) that challenged new filmmakers to create a short film using the new Crossfire or the Pacifica. TiVo is in process of showing some of the entries...and then Chrysler will announce (or already has) the winner of the contest which will get one million dollars and a studio deal to create their own movie.
The clip of the children is a bit strange and suggestive (with the back airwing going up in the air at the very end suggesting a sexual tone confirming the intent of the film...), but it's not an official commericial (yet) by Chrysler, but by showing it (even on TiVo, etc.) they are endorsing it to some degree...
Without having Parental Controls turned on with some promos (which may draw more initial interest (why did TiVo turn on the parental control for this etc?), TiVo should consider looking at the type of stuff that they are sending their customers. I would prefer that they don't censor stuff, but they should consider some type of parental control....the commercial for the FX drama was definitely not suitable for kids...and just putting a viewer discretion flag up doesn't stop a kid from selecting it....that's what parental controls and vchips are for!
