I have become addicted to my 30 second advance .. yesterday the feature disappeared from my remote-tivo .. I tried to reprogram (S-P-30-S) and it still is advancing to end of program .. what happened and what did I do

Posted by: maharg18

I believe it's actually S-P-S-30-S

Posted by: biker

Did it reboot?

Posted by: beetle_boy

thanks maharg18 .. it works with the sps30s

This feature once turned on can only be turned off one of two ways. Either re-enter the code, or the unit has rebooted for some reason.

Some older TiVos seem to randomly lose the 30s skip without rebooting. Mine does that. I know it hasn't rebooted when I look at the uptime.

Yes, that can happen when some random individuals in the home send the S-P-S-30-S code randomly (or because they don't like it, preferring a skip-to-end).

There's nobody else in this household, and it still happens. Or maybe the remote is sending the codes all by itself. :)

Grrr... It's skip to tick. Not to end.

Cheers,

Allan.

Depends what version you're running.

Posted by: HTH

And it is only "skip to tick" if you're in Fwd or Back mode. Otherwise, it is indeed "skip to end", unless you're at the end of a recording, where it is "skip to beginning". (LiveTV behaves differently.)

I encourage you, Allan, to try it. Even I had to to be sure.

Thanks for the correction. I love state-dependant functions ;)

Cheers,

Allan.

Boy do I need help.

I tried punching in the sequence, but I can't get the unit to actually advance 30 seconds. Obviosuly I am missing something.

Am I correct in concluding that double right arrow is the "advance" button?

Posted by: maharg18

The advance button will be the one that looks like this: ->|

Thank you so much. Sometimes it is the little things in life that make a profound difference. In this instance you did just that for me.
Thanx
