It was an episode that aired either Monday or Tuesday; sorry I can't be more specific. In his monologue, Dave went off on a story he read in the NY Times that morning about 'dark energy ripping apart the universe.'

A guy I know is one of the primary researchers on the dark energy phenomenon, and he'd desparately like to track down a copy. Can anybody help me out with a tape/VCD/DVD of the show? I'd pay for all media and shipping, of course.

So what day's show was it on? I always have a 5-day window of Dave and Leno on my TiVos... I want to watch the reference before this Monday's show... :)

Wednesday's show, 8:30 min. in, after he sits down at his desk. He displays the article from Monday's NYT.

His interpretation is actually pretty humorous, and he uses it as an "anchor" to refer to several times throughout the show.

So what did you think?

I checked out Monday's program... Didn't see the "passing of the sweatshirt" ritual... :(

Perhaps they gave it to Dave off camera (or back stage)...

What's the inside scoop? "Enquiring minds want to know" :D

I don't know what happened with the sweatshirt. I haven't had a chance to talk to Bob since he got back, becaus his wife went into labor the next day (poor guy just can't catch a break!).

I thought Bob came across really well on the show, although he was pretty nervous at first. It's just such a hard concept to explain, particularly in a ten-minute segment, that I think he was a bit overwhelmed. Dave seemed to really have fun with it, though, and Bob's getting a lot of mileage out of it-- he's being interviewed by some local radio stations this weekend about the appearance (if the new baby permits, that is! :) ).
