I know Starhunter is beneath some of you high Hard-core Sci-Fi fans. But for you fans that can give a low budget syndicated sci-fi serials a "fair" shot. Starhunter season 2 is something to record 3 weeks worth of episodes an take a look at. I watch 80% of season 1 and Starhunter is watchable. ;)

I tried twice to watch it. I never made it through an entire episode. I can stand cheesy special effects etc. but it was just not engaging enough to get through an episode.

Why?
Not that I would like to deny Michael Pere a paycheck (Streets of Fire still kicks ass!!!) but the show was less then great.
I watched like a half dozen eps and it just wasn't good. Did it get better later on in the season?
Watchable... I guess, but some people claim Andromeda is watchable. Hey, i'm like most science fiction fans and I'd love to see good genre' shows on their air but unlike the theories coming out of paramount studios, I won't watch just anything becuase it's a genre show.....
Well, if nothing else it's keeping some people in canada employed, right?

In my opinion the show got better as you followed an got into the story line. But I will admit Starhunter will not be everyones cub of tea. The fact the Starhunter comes on in my area at 4:00am says it all I guess. From the SH forum's it seems to be a good size hit in Canada and Europe much less so here in the US. SH is more of a small Cult hit here. To each his own, I know people that loves The Red Dwarf. I could never get through an entire episode without my eyes glazing over. Not looking for converts here just giving a heads up to fans of this genre. ;)

I suspect I tried watching it in the middle and that could be a factor as to whether I understood all that was happening to the characters. At least it has a second season. I looked in epguides and it seems pretty old (2000 time frame) so at least the second season is showing in the US for its fans.
I only found it by accident because of my TiVo. So only people with TiVos or who obsessively read their TV Guides are going to find this show.

Well, jones... I'll give it another try on your recommendation. We're in the same market so I know what you mean about timeslots not helping.

It's a little more watchable than Andromeda is at times.
I have an SP only becuase I like Michael Pare and Tanya Allen is easy on the eyes (too bad her character is annoying).
The whole Divinity Cluster thing is sort of interesting but Starhunter is more a background TV type of show for me....

Well The new season has started a few weeks back here in Philly. I wondering if anyone have given StarHunter the *Jones 3 episode watch rule yet ? You just might be surprise and like it. No it's no Farscape, but it's watchable for Low-key sci-fi fans who can watch a show with out picking a part every little thing. The FX is Mid-Buget, but the story line an writing is on a good B+ level. Set you DVR's because it comes on late in some towns. 4:00 in my area.
* Some shows takes a few weeks to hook ya.

I caught a few episodes before the station airing it was still running the guide data but not the show. I liked it FAR better than Enterprise.

The new season of Starhunter would have to be around for three weeks for it to hook anyone.
My local UPN station pulled it after two weeks and started Angel reruns instead.
Not that I saw anything particularly good about season 2.
IMDB lists this as two different series with a years gap in between and I think production shifted to L.A.
Dante (Michael Pare) is missing in hyperspace, Luc is conviently ignored and Carvagio has a new holo persona.
They only kept annoying Percy and Clive Robertson as Travis isn't really cutting it. Clive was barely credible on Sunset Beach and he's not impressing here.
And that bounty hunter chick, bow wow wow.
Rudolpho and the other guy are just there.
I don't think I'm missing anything....

Why is this the first I've heard of this?
(It's not related to Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone, originally 3D, is it?)
Posted by: jones07
Not Related at all.
Starhunter seems to be a big cult hit in Canada and Europe. But MUCH less so here in the States. If it's on in your home town at all, it most likely on at some ungodly hours and disappears from the line-up and returns at the whim of the local station manager. :p
I enjoy watching it that all that matters. Thought I give like sci-fi fans an heads-up on a little known Space Opera. There's so little left on TV now days. That being said I can also undersatand how Starhunter would not be everyone's cub of tea.
