I will shortly be getting a second sky subscription ( 1 dish and 2 boxes in seperate rooms) will I now be able to record one sky channel whilst watching another directly on TiVo. Or will I need to use one box with a normal recorder?

I'm not 100% sure I understand what you want to achieve but I have the same setup and the way I've organised it is to have one sky box for watching "live" tv and the other box is dedicated to Tivo. This means Tivo can record whatever it wants and you can still watch any Sky channel you want.

If you do do this the other thing that you might want to think about is postioning the Sky box dedicated to Tivo so that you can't accidently change the channel manually (mine lives at the top of the airing cupboard!).

Do you need two feeds and two heads on the satelite dish ? or will the single head and feed cable server both boxes viewing different channels ?

You need a double LNB (head) on the dish (lokks like one but has two sockets) and two independent wires to the boxes.

Get one of those SkyEye TLinks to replace the remote control and put a bit of black tape over the ir sensor on the digibox. That way the TiVo will control only one box (using the TLink), you will control the other (using the remote control as normal) and neither will interfere with each other. You also get rid of that %$^"Ł!*# red dot on your TiVo recordings.
