Lucky Cancelled!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I can't believe they cancelled Lucky. I loved that show. FX, you have royally pissed me off.

Posted by: ClutchBrake

Man, that sucks. Lucky was great. Maybe they will make a spin-off with Mutha and Vince.

Posted by: VegasVic

What the hell are they smoking over there at FX.

By the way can you provide a link, I didn't see anything about it anywhere.

Posted by: VegasVic

Nevermind, I see it on the Lucky message boards at the FX site. Damn.

Posted by: DLiquid

I didn't think this was a great show, but it was entertaining and I watched every episode. I wouldn't watch a spin-off with Mother and Vince. Although they were sometimes pretty funny, John Corbett was what kept me watching.

Posted by: VegasVic

I agree. Not a great show, but still better than most of the crap on the air. Maybe FX will jump on the reality show bandwagon. Oh boy...

Posted by: disco

Logic at FX:

Nominated for an Emmy = cancellation.

Huh??

Posted by: VegasVic

Here is a link, from the John Corbett website...

here is the reason why the canceled it (in my opinion) :

See it is FX, i think the schedulars are former employees of FOX and though they were working at FOX, but they are mistaken and its FX, they keep thinking its FOX. DAMNNNNNNNN UUUUUUUUUU

futurama :(
Firefly :(
Andy richter :(

and much more i cant think of, i guess FX is part owned by FOX, at least i think that is true.

Posted by: Lori

Dammit. I really liked that show. :(

Posted by: teknikel

That SuckS.

I think it was a very good show with great potential. Hope someone picks it up but it would have to be HBO, Showtime to keep the language and such.

Nothing I like stays on the air......it must be me. I just have bad taste in TV :(
You want Proof ? I have never watched a Reality show for more then 120 seconds in my life.

Posted by: ncsercs

I guess Lucky wasn't.....:D

Posted by: Todd

The show was alright, but I'd hardly call it great TV. Now if they cancel The Shield, then they've have some splainin to do!!!

The shield will probably be next because it is not reality TV crap.

Posted by: JimSpence

Are any "reality" shows really reality?

I too have not watched any of them for more than a few seconds while surfing past.:)

Posted by: trainman

If there's any consolation, I guess it's that there will no longer be giant dice rolling across the screen on every other FX show.

Of course, they'll probably come up with something more annoying for their next original series.

Posted by: spartanstew

That sucks, I too liked the show, and thought it was just getting it's legs. Sometimes I feel like i should always store the first season of any show without watching it. then if i find out it's picked up for a second season, i could watch it.

Well... I never watched this show, but it sounds like an excellent candidate for "Brilliant but Cancelled" over on Trio.

There's really not much you can argue when they post the ratings numbers - compared to Nip/Tuck and The Shield, the ratings kinda sucked. They started off only OK, and dropped from there.

Posted by: SuperZippy

i watched a few episodes but could never really get into it.

i don't think it will be missed.

Posted by: Fustanella

Lovely. Just lovely. When will FOX/FX stop cancelling the shows I enjoy, and start getting rid of the garbage known as "reality shows"?

When the "reality shows" stop getting 3 times more viewers than the shows you enjoy :)

seems logical.

Oh, don't go trying to push your [airquotes] "logic" [/airquotes] on me. :D

Son of a B*^%#@. One of my new favorite shows. This was the only show I watched on FX.

Posted by: marksman

I fall into the category of it was a watchable show, and JC is a likable enough person to make the show okay.

Wasn't a great show, but one I tried to watch when I could.

Fact is the ratings started off fairly well then dropped significantly and then pretty much free-fall into obscurity. At the end of the run the ratings had dropped to statistically insignificant levels... and that is too bad.

I agree with you about Family Guy, but disagree about Futurama. Both of these shows were excellant.

What the hell does FX care about effin ratings?:mad::mad: It's a cable network for Christssake. I think for a Tuesday night at 10pm it did pretty well. Well, at least they'll have time now for more FOX movies at 8 AND 10, since it's not like they have their own movie channel to air that stuff on. Or maybe they can air reruns of Buffy for 8 hours a day instead of 4.

Posted by: Sromkie

I also really liked this show, but it wasn't one of my can't miss SPs. It is too bad that FX dropped it; I was starting to think that they may turn into what Fox used to be (the network that tried new things and gave them a chance)... Too bad :(

Posted by: Mr. Soze

Bad news. Well I guess that Vic Mackey is the only thing keeping FX on my "Channels I Receive". Careful now, FX.

I watch reality TV, but I call it the news.

I was one of the ones who watched it at the beginning, for about the first 3 or 4 episodes because I love The Shield so much, and they promoted the hell out of it. After that I stopped watching it at all, it was boring. I'm not gonna miss it.

If FX were a pay cable network you would have a point. But even HBO, Showtime etc care about ratings as it gives them an idea of what their customers are watching... If they aren't watching something, then there is no point in showing it, as it is unlikely to be gaining you any new subscribers, or holding any old ones.

Back to the point, since FX is a commercial network, they care very much about ratings. Their revenue comes from advertising based on the ratings.

So I am guessing that is why they care. :)
