Tivo wont boot - Just about to give up.
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a Philips series 1 Tivo which was on a version of 3.0.
I installed a Turbonet board 1 week ago. Worked like a charm.
2 days after, the tivo froze up for no apparent reason so I rebooted it.
It wouldnt come back.
I then took the tnlited command out of the rc.sysinit script and it booted fine.
I shut it down again to put the script back in. I updated the rc.sysinit script and booted it...and it never came back.
So, I shut it down again and just copied the original rc.sysinit script back, and removed the turbonet board. It still has not come back.
Its just hanging at the "Your PTV is starting up. Please wait a moment screen"
I know the A drive is good because I can mount the partitions when I hook it up to my PC.
If it cant boot off the original rc.sysinit script (before the addition of tnlited) then what could the problem be? Hardware?
Any ideas? I am just about the throw myself and my Tivo out of the window.
Thank you for any help you can give...

Perhaps you need to do chmod +x on rc.sysinit?

I made sure that rc.sysinit was chmod 755.

Boy I wish I had a console to see what is going on.
Staring at this "please wait a moment" screen is pretty daunting.

If you have a serial cable, Todd Miller has produced a kernel that prints its boot messages to the DSS port. See the 160Gb thread in the Underground.

If you figure out the problem, I'm in the same boat. Please let me know.

As if by miracle, I figured my problem out. Maybe it will help you.
When I edited the rc.sysinit, I did it on a Windows box. That left a bunch of "^M"'s at the end of each line. The Tivo didn't like that so it wouldn't boot. After removing them (use the method of your choice), it booted fine. Hope this will work for you too.

Hi all,
I need a ptv 300 image (or compatible). If anybody can direct me to a link/ftp/email/etc an image, I would really apreciate it!
Thanks,
