Music & Photos on TiVo doesn't work

I configured my TiVo with a Linksys wireless and automatic IP. The IP was assigned to the TiVo. I can see the TiVo from my computer. I can also ping the TiVo. I used remote scheduling to record a show. The TiVo recorded it. But when I go to Music & Photos, I can't get to any options. I added my computer's IP for a server, but TiVo can't see it. It says the IP is not a valid IP, but I know I entered the right IP. I can't get to any music or photos.

Anyone else have this problem?

Silly question but did you install the TiVo software on your computer which will be serving up the Music and Photos?

If so and you're still not seeing them, it could be a firewall issue on your computer.

by pinging the TiVo's IP address from the computer. By the word "see", it meant that the connectivity exists between the computer and the TiVo -- it doesn't mean that programs on the TiVo can be "seen" on the computer.

Is the TiVo server running? That is, do you get the little TiVo icon in your system tray? I do not have my TiVo server to automatically start when I start my computer, so it must be manually started from the TiVo desktop software before my TiVo will see my music/photos. Otherwise, it won't see my computer at all.

I have to admit that I thought I was going to have all these firewall issues with my router and software firewall. However, it was quite easy to set up. I just had to make sure that the TiVo Server and TiVo Beacon software were able to communicate with my TiVo IP and that was it. Quite simple indeed.

I do have the Tivo Server running. When I said "see the Tivo on my computer", I ment the Tivo server lists my TiVo in the properties.

My Music and Photo's finally appeared on my TiVo with no addition action by me. It just showed up. But it doesn't always find my music or photos. One day it'll work and a few hours later it won't. I think my TiVo is too far away from my wireless router. I must have some interference.

I noticed one thing - that is if your published items are somehow not available - that it would act as if the server wasn't running. I published files from a Jaz drive and whenever the drive spun down - TiVo would show nothing while waits for the drive to spin up before showing my files. So you probably hit it on the nose?
