Tivo oh so dead. PLEASE HELP!

I love my Tivo so much. Unfortunately something happened to her last night...
I think the problem arose because it overheated. I added a new component to the same closed case in my entertainment center. When I came back an hour later, the picture on Tivo was frozen and could not be revived with all of the regular key presses. The case was also pretty hot.
I unplugged and replugged the Tivo in and it just gets stuck at the "Your PTR receiver is starting up..." screen. HELP!
About a year ago I upgraded it from 15 hours to about 80 and it has been running great.
Now I don't know what to do.....I have a life time subscription. If this Tivo is toast, do I loose it all? (that seems like kicking you while you are down!)
I notice they are selling bare-bones Tivos on ebay without hard drives for about $70. Is there some way of using parts of these to resurrect my Tivo without loosing my lifetime subscription? Where exactly is that serial number stored? If it is on the hard drive, then hopefully I can just move my hard drives to the bare-bones unit.
You help is really appreciated. Not only by me, but by my forlorn Tivo :( .

Do you still have your original disks? Try those, and if they work it would confirm that you have roasted your hard disks :(
At least hard disks are easily replaceable and relatively cheap. If it's not your disks then the problem is more serious - if the motherboard needs replacing (the serial number is on the mobo) then you're at the mercy of TiVo CS regarding your lifetime sub.

TiVo should be able to shut itself off before heat damage occurs. This sounds more like a drive issue. Try your original drive, or get a new one and download a working image and see if it boots.` If not, check logs to see if it is at least part-way booting.

Thanks so much for you help! It turned out my original Tivo HD was dead. It was a simple matter of restoring my backup hard drive to my other Tivo upgrade drive and all was well (whew!).
Thanks god for backups :D
