Hangs on Satellite Setup Confirm
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've just installed a new drive and restored to my backup. All seemed fine. Call to upgrade the software seemed to go fine. All except my local channels, which, when selected, got a "channel not available" message at the bottom of the screen. The locals appear on the guide fine. All channels other than locals, near as I can tell, looked fine.
So I checked satellite signals. Except for transponders 18 and 26 on sat 101 (or was it 119 - I forgot), all were 85+. [edit: 18 and 26 were zero]
Something then made me redo the satellite setup. Oval 3 was correctly specified, but at that point you have to do the entire setup, you can't abort. At the point where it gives you a 'confirming satellite setup' screen and gives two columns, one labeled sat1 and the other sat2, it started counting up %-age complete just fine, but then gets stuck at 28%. Many minutes pass and no higher. Power off reset is done. On power up it looks normal, re-enters satellite setup and again hangs at 28%.
Short of re-restoring my tivo.bak, any ideas? Box is a DSR6000 with a single 80 GB Maxtor and a fresh mfsrestore.
Thanks in advance.

Disconnect the feeders and do Guided Setup. Cancel the error message that appears and complete GS then reconnect feeds. This is a problem at the DTV end, not your TiVo.

Robert,
Are you suggesting this as a fix to my not seeing locals or to my having a satellite setup hanging at 28%?
Seems like the former if it's a DTV problem, but I want to be sure I'm understanding you perfectly. If it is the former, I'm still apparently stuck in this satellite-confirmation check screen the solution to which seems to be an mfsrestore and restarting the upgrade process.
Tnx!

It's the fix for hangin at 28%. It's already come up several times today. As for the locals, call DTV CS and tell them that you had to restart your TiVo and lost your locals and they'll switch them back on.

Dang! The same thing happened to me this evening ... hangs at 28%. I'm really glad I saw this thread. Given this problem, I'm also glad I just bought an upgrade drive from Weaknees instead of doing the whole thing myself ... otherwise I'd be thinking it was because I did something wrong in the process and need to start over.

Robert,
Thanks for taking the time to help me out. That hang at 28% really had me stumped. I never thought the solution was to remove all satellite signals entirely so I could get past the test. What strange creatures software are :)
Do you know what was causing this hang? Sounds like anyone who attempts a 3-sat initialization is going to get rather frustrated. Or is it just some obscure configurations, which mine might happen to be, that have this setup "feature?"
Thanks again.

I had the same problem. Same stick in set-up same loss of Locals. Got the sticking by-passed. I have not corrected the loss of locals, calls to Pegasus to reset/reauthorize locals has been unsuccessful.
They say my receiver is broken (I do not think so).

There's a pretty long thread about this here:

My HDVR2 hangs at 70% trying to aquire Satellite signal after a power failure last night. Is this the same problem as those having problems at 28%?
