Firefly: The 3 unaired episodes
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)
Posted by: Vesper
The 3 episodes that didn't air in the US were on UK television last week. So they of course, made it to the net in high-quality form. I watched all 3 this weekend, and it made me simultaneously overjoyed and extremely sad. All were excellent, and it made me realize just how much I'm going to miss this show. It was like a visit from a long lost friend... All fans of the show should do what they can to see these episodes. (Or if you are a bit shakey on the internet-TV routine, you'll see them on the DVD set in December..)
CURSE YOU FOX.

This is a bit of a "grey area" legality wise, so we probably should avoid specifics on this topic as far as where to get them. In any case, the P2P networks might be somewhere to check.

I downloaded them from various newsgroups. There's a Firefly binaries groupo, so that might be a good place to check.
Burned them to VCD and watched them on my TV. MUCH better quality than anybody had on Kazaa.
I thoiught they were great. I'm miss that show.:(

It's not a grey area, it's completely black. Uploading TV shows you've recorded for anyone to download is copyright infringement, especially if you're making it available to people who can't get that TV broadcast. Not only that, but the studios could rightfully claim an economic loss, since people who download and view the shows would be less likely to buy the DVD.

I wish I could do newsgroups. I hate that I have to wait until December to get the DVDs and see the final three episodes. I also hate that I am giving money to FOX for a show they abused.

Maybe a 3rd party news service like easynews, giganews, supernews, teranews, dummynews, newsguy, etc would be worth the price of service to you then. There are various plusses and minuses to using a paid newsservice (like it costing you extra monthly charges), but you might be able to get away with using your ISP's newsserver in conjunction with one of the cheapy tiers of 3rd party newssservices and be able to get complete files between the two.

Thanks for the heads up.
I'm going to go black now.

good idea, lets prove to fox that firefly has no fan base by not buying the dvd. Not that I'm holding out hope for any movies or anything like that.

No need to worry. MOST Firefly fans will still buy the DVD. That being said I hate putting money in the hands of FOX who canceled FireFly in the first place.

Well, if it's any consolation, Fox Video seems to be at least somewhat independent of Fox TV. E.g., the Futurama DVD sets are an implicit criticism of the scheduling of the TV show, by having the sets in production seasons instead of broadcast seasons...

I'm too close to my Usenet news quota to download.
And if only BestBuy.com would let me sign in with my password, I'd have Firefly preordered by now. Do their new forms CGI suddenly have a problem with users with e-mail addresses 29 characters in length?

Can someone please post the names of the three unaired episodes so I can find them on eMule?

1AGE10 - Heart of Gold
1AGE12 - Trash
1AGE13 - The Message

The best versions were released by an encoding group called SD-6 from the UK. Normally their stuff is from HD broadcasts, but I don't know if that was the case with these. Were posted in the last 2 weeks.

SD-6 is great! I always grab their stuff. I know their Smallville's are from HD broadcasts and I prefer them over any version I could make (I don't have an HD tuner). They always look so sharp and close to DVD.

FWiW, I've been told that the Firefly DVDs will come loaded with extras -- commentaries, interviews, et cetera. So even if a resourceful fan has been able to obtain the missing episodes by illegal means, there will still be good reasons to buy.

Their usenet server is the BEST! They have all kinds of great stuff in that group.

Finally got around to seeing the last few episodes, and though they were not the greatest, they were pretty good.
Fox still pisses me off with their quick hook. Maybe they should own a baseball team :D
Posted by: ewolfr
They do own a baseball team, the LA Dodgers. Although they have been trying to sell them for the past year or so.
Posted by: brahamt
Yes, that was the joke. They have run that team pretty poorly, considering the talent that has passed through there.

So, I'm striking out in finding the SD-6 versions of these episodes. I found this website, Hello, Cowgirl, with mediocre quality versions but it's too distracting to watch. Any better places? Preferrably, BitTorrent.

D*mn,
Just as I was beginning to get over Firefly, I see this thread and download the 3 'missing' episodes. They were all good, and now I am all p-o'd at FOX again.
Those execs over there bite!!!
I hear there may be a movie release - at least it is something I can hope for.
