Im having an issue formatting my 120 GB drive without going into Windows 2000. Dos Fdisk limitation for my drive is about 60gig. What is the best/safest method to Format my upgrade drives without risking putting some bad signature on the drive. And If I have booted into win2k with a potential upgrade drive is that bad? How should I go about repairing that.

Suggestions please.

The problem is that Win2k's 'signature' corrupts the TiVo's boot block. The change is not permanent.

Why are you trying to format the drive anyway? If you're just making a partition to backup to, make it 1Gb, FORMAT is quite slow and would take several hours to format 120Gb!

To answer the OP's unformulated question, you don't need to format anything if all you want is to use the new drive in the TiVo. Just follow the upgrade procedure exactly, and mfstools will do all the work.
