240040A Image Needed

I hope someone can help. My DH backed up our new S2 TiVo this afternoon in order for us to upgrade later this week when 9th Tee sends the mounting bracket and cables we need.

Well after he had backed the image up to an empty 3 gig HD he decided to put it on the new 120 gig HD and see if it worked...it did. So he then decided to try to get it set up software wise so everything was ready when the supplies arrive. Uh OH! After he did that the TiVo decided it didn't want to work with only one drive when it thought it was going to have two drives so it's pretty dead until we get the other drive installed.

In the meantime DH booted up his Linux box with the drive with the backup on it and now the tools won't see the image...so we now have no backup.

So in my long rambling way I'm asking if anyone has a virgin image of a 240040A system that you could send me or direct me to download.

Thanks in advance!

Does the TiVo still boot in its twin-drive configuration? If so you can make a fresh compressed backup from that pair that will restore to the original A drive.

Note that MFS Tools doesn't require anything special from the OS, you can run it under your normal Linux install if you wish.

Hi,

I just checked with DH and he says he doesn't know since we don't have the cables. :(

He says he realized his mistake almost as soon as he did it, but we won't know until 9th Tee sends the items I ordered today.

Sigh...it's been a long day.

Well, assuming that you have enough connectors in the PC, assume that your drive set is OK and make a fresh compressed backup off them now.

Hi again Robert,

DH says that TiVo thinks there are two drives and he doesn't want to make a backup of the two drive configuration...he wants to have a backup of the "original" setup of the system.

I appreciate your help in any case. Thanks so much!

No, a compressed backup drops the upgrade partitions so, as I said above, you'll get a backup that you can restore to your original A drive.
