THE WEST WING (NBC) - Gary Cole ("The Brady Bunch Movie") is all set as the new vice president on the Peacock's drama series. He'll play Robert "Bingo Bob" Russell, a Colorado congressman who's appointed to the vacant position and immediately puts into action a few unconventional ideas. His character is expected to make several appearances this season with his first being the show's third installment this year. Cole takes over the VP role from Tim Matheson's character, John Hoynes, who resigned over a sex scandal late last season.

Come on guys. He's the captain of the Excalibur. From Crusade. The Babylon 5 spinoff that TNN mucked with and canceled.

He was also the evil sherrif on American Gothic. I think that was the last non-reality show I've watched on CBS.

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Hm, I wonder how Bartlett gets his job back from John Goodman, so that he can have a new VP?

As I understand the law from a past discussion about this, all Bartlet has to do is say "I'm fit to be president again" - possibly by signing that other paper mentioned last season - and the acting president must step down. It's one heck of a way to get rid of a political opponent, as Goodman's character had to fully resign his high-level Congressional post to become acting president. :D
