Monster House: Sultan House (**Spoilers**)

What a great episode!

Steve's rant directed at Kent at the end was fantastic.

They really did a nice job -- I think some of the builders they selected were "ringers", as this was a celeb's house (Anne Ramsey, the sister from Mad About You).

Updates from the homeowner here: http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/m...tan/sultan.html

complaints and rants:

* everyone in LA is an actor/actress waiting for their "next big break".
* I enjoy when they do working-class houses more. Let a celeb pay for their own remodel.
* why didn't they kick that idiot off the team? Maybe because all the drama would have been gone? We hoped he wouldn't get the tools.
* Steve's rant rocked. The guy deserved it.
* the team liked being in the cooler weather. I wonder if this is the real reason for doing a celeb house (nobody else can afford to live near the coast).

I think the changes she made later are the ones I would make. While having the upper area cleared is nice, I thought about it blocking the view when I saw then do it. I think it also hides the nice new iron work. The tracks around the bed made no sense to me. If the curtain had been a heavy room darkening one that you could use to block out light, that would be one thing but just for show made no sense to me.

Pretty cool otherwise. So far the only one I reallty did not like was the western theme one. For me, the best was the race car. I loved those fans.

I suspect the problem lies in the recruiting of the workers -- they're not checking out their backgrounds thoroughly enough or giving them long enough intake interviews to weed out the real pills.

I haven't done much tiling, but it seems to me the worst problem would be that you might possibly run out of tiles or have to cut more. Presumably, the producers would have =bought= more than enough tiles even for an inexperienced cutter to mangle accidentally, so what =was= the holdup on the relatively simple (am I right?) design of the fountain tiling?

Posted by: Fleegle

The holdup was that jerk's unwillingness to actually work. Every episode, there's a push at teh end of teh alst day to finish everything up. That guy, (Forgot him name now...), just stood around watching the others work.

Remember what he wanted to do with the tiles in teh bathroom? That wasn't even a fishscale design, it was a pyramid! He was too lazy to frame it properly and cut and place the tiles like teh design called for.

Anne Ramsey = Ma Fratelli in The Goonies

Anne Ramsay = Lisa Stemple in Mad About You

Steve's rant was fantastic. I really was hoping he wouldn't give him the tools though.

I do prefer them do the "Avg Joe's" house though.

Posted by: Connie

I expect Steve was contractually obligated to give him the tools -- the contract probably says if "the team" finishes on time, not "the four guys who actually picked up the slack". I suppose if the slacker actually walks out on the project, they don't have to pay.

"kiss your a**? Kiss MY a**! And while your at it kiss all their a**es too for winning you a prize!"...that was classic! I gained much respect for Steve after this show.

Yeah, I'm sure it was contractual too.

Did anyone notice that they are giving away a different oxy/acetyline system? They called it a "soldering/brazing" system instead of a welding/cutting rig. Different company too.

Kent was weird. Steve was great.

This episode was the first, and only to date, Monster House I've seen. My SP was set up with keep only 1.. :(

Now it's set to 5!!! I really enjoyed this show! Don't know if they are still taking applications, but I think I need to convince my GF's mom to apply!

I discovered this show completely by accident on Monday morning.
I am totally hooked.
The other funny this week was the guy they caught on tape telling his wife how he was gonna get out of the job and still get the prizes and get paid. When Steve busted him I was cracking up.

I watched two more episodes last night, Retro Future House, and Jurassic house.

WOW! This show is great!!!!! I so wish I was close enough to apply for this program!
