Passport Revoked: FOX Cancels 'Keen Eddie'
By Brian Ford Sullivan
CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has pulled the plug on its struggling summer drama "Keen Eddie." The news comes just one week before the show's previously announced return on August 28.
In its place FOX plans to fill the Thursday, 8:00/7:00c hour with a mix of new and repeat episodes of "Anything for Love" and "Stupid Behavior Caught on Tape." The move won't affect the Thursday launch of "Temptation Island 3" at 9:00/8:00c on August 28.
For its seven airings this summer, "Eddie" averaged a 2.2 rating and 6 share among adults 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers overall. The network still has six episodes of the series in the can.
Meanwhile in other FOX news, the network also announced it will air the special "What's in the Fox Box 2003" on Sunday, August 31 at 7:00/6:00c. The half-hour broadcast will give a sneak peek at the new season of the network's kids lineup. "Fox Box" takes the place of the 7:00/6:00c repeat of "Futurama." The 7:30/6:30c "Futurama" repeat will air as previously announced.
Lastly, FOX has revealed it plans to fill its Sunday schedule with theatrical movies for the month of September. "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" will have its world broadcast premiere on September 7 during which viewers can catch a four-minute trailer for the new season of "24." On Sunday, September 14 look for "The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2" with the network's Emmy coverage on September 21. Rounding out the month is "The Vertical Limit" on September 28. FOX's baseball coverage is expected to take over during October, leading up the season premieres of its Sunday series on November 2. FOX sucks beyond belief. I hope the decision makers get genital warts and die slow deaths.
Not really. Well, maybe the genital warts part.

No kidding! I was reading an article that was talking about how quick they are to sh*tcan shows these days. They made the point that shows aren't given the time to acquire an audience like before. Shows like the X-files would never make it through the first season these days.

Yeah they don't give shows time to gain an audience anymore because people keep watching their reality crap like paradise hotel, American idol and American juniors people please quit watching this garbage so we can have decent TV shows again. I mean this week they have a show called performing as who are these people who are stupid enough to watch idiots imitate celebrities and sing.

And use your TiVos to vote as well! Give those reality shows a big thumbs down. Every single on both of my TiVo's have at least one thumbs down.

Maybe if they had titled it 'Queer Eddie' it would still be around.

According to a similar story in the Boston Globe today, Fox does intend to air the episodes in the can but not yet broadcast, but, sadly, will produce no more new eps.
Bad move, this was, IMHO, a show that could have found an audience and a following, given some time and a Fall time slot.

Wouldn't living a long life, be dying a slow death?
That just bites! I loved this show! They should put out ALL the episodes on DVD! At least we'd get to see the rest of them!

What the hell does Fox want? The cancel everything!

I thought it sucked.
Good riddance.

Fox didn't kill Keen Eddie because people watched American Juniors, Paradise Hotel, etc. They killed it because people DIDN'T watch KE. My girlfriend liked Eddie, but the show didn't interest me. I didn't watch the other shows either.

Reality TV needs to die a horrible death. Its killed way too many good shows. I saw Keen Eddie pop up in my To Do List and the next day is was gone. I was wondering what happened. I think I'll just avoid any new Fox shows from now on.

I couldn't agree more. I watched one episode based on what everyone here was talking about and it was awful. All flash. I felt like I was on one of those rides that are all visual and you don't go anywhere.
I wish people would realize that shows like Firefly, Keen Eddie they are cancelled because people don't like them. And for all of you screaming about hating reality shows, fine I understand. I don't like alot of them either. Networks simply care about what gets people to watch because that is where the advertising dollars are. I will never watch Fear Factor, Meet My Parents or a great deal of the other reality shows out there. I also wouldn't purchase a CD that was hip hop or rap. But so long as these are the things that people are watching/buying, that is what is going to be produced and renewed.

Well I watched it and liked it. It was fresh and fun and didn't have all the crap and gore that other crime shows have. By the way, I don't watch those other crap and gore crime shows. Bad move Fox.

Just curious TomK. What are these shows your talking about?

All I can hope for is that this supposed new "relaity TV channel" that might come up is successful enough so FOX will be forced to air something other than RTV tripe.
B**tards... I hate FOX.

By gore I'm guessing he is referring to CSI. Last year there was quite a bit of blatant shock value shots.

i watched it for the hot chick roomate, other than that it wasn't that good.

yeah, clutch I noticed that too. And that was my thought on where he was going with that. But as far as script writing and intrigue goes, no comparison, CSI rules. And by the way way, take a look at the ratings. I'll be honest I don't know where Keen Eddie is but I'll bet you a steak CSI repeats mopped the floor up with it.
Now please pass those potatoes.:)

Sorry, I should have mentioned them. I have tried to watch CSI but it's just not my type of crime show. I know it must be popular to have so many variations on so many nights. The same goes for all the variations of Law and Order too. To each his/her own I suppose but I just liked the style of Keen Eddie. It was entertaining to me.
