Wire, MI-5, Office, Coupling on DVD

According to www.digitalbits.com, Warner Brothers is releasing box sets of The Office: Season 1 & 2, Coupling: Season 2, MI-5; and HBO is releasing Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, Real Sex, Taxi Cab Confessions, American Splendor and Elephant.

The Wire! MI-5! Yee haw!

:) -- I FINALLY get to see the first season of The Wire after getting hooked on Season Two. Great news!

Has anyone seen any details on MI-5 anywhere? I'm hoping it will be the 16x9 version, as I've read in here that the British (PAL) version is. I'd be tempted to stop watching the annoying P&S version on A&E and wait for the DVDs to come out.

I'm disappointed that Mind of the Married Man isn't in the list of HBO titles.

Looking forward to Christmas Vacation in widescreen this year!

I haven't seen the specs yet. I agree about the 16x9, but I hope even more that they are the unedited versions (the British broadcasts were about 15 minutes longer than the American).

Looks like they may replay S1 on HBO this fall anyway:

9/26 9:00 PM HBO2 - EAST THE WIRE 01: THE TARGET TVMA 62 Drama

No SFU Season 2? Damn you, HBO!

Didn't they just put Season 1 out a few months ago?

HBO tends to lag in their DVD sets--I'd bet you'll get yours eventually!

I would kill for the release of all seasons of Dream On on DVD. Same for First and Ten.

While I share your enthusiasm for the DVD release of the Wire, I don't for MI-5. Perhaps because I'm holding the unedited, full-length, first season DVD set in my hands right now :D

It is, in fact, 16x9 (or some other very similar widescreen ratio, I didn't measure)

Indeed, and I was tempted to get the British edition, but it's awfully pricey for six episodes. I'll wait and see if the American edition is a little more reasonable.

Great news about The Wire, now if only we could get The Corner on DVD as well.

I didn't see $30 including shipping was too bad for it, considering I get twice the episodes for three times the money with an HBO series.

True, but A) I only pay about $50 for HBO series (you just have to keep looking at the used DVD shops); and B) with HBO series, there's not the hope of a cheaper American edition coming out soon. :D

According to Amazon, The Corner was released in July. I saw it at Best Buy a few days ago.
