just started my tivo and everythings running excexpt when I do a daily call the tivo restarts itself! why would do this? I need to make a daily call to watch live tv

things have went from bad to worse I woke up this morning after it leaving update all night and now its stuck on "your tivo is starting up" screen.
is it a bad harddrive? or could it be my tivo :(

The same sequnence happened to my TiVo and it turned out that the TiVo itself was faulty (I had two other known-good A drives and a working TiVo on hand to verify this). So although we normally say sticking at 'welcome' means a drive failure, this might be an exception to that rule.

should I try a new Hard Drive or get a new tivo?

Yes, something like that.

If you were thinking about upgrading anyway, then it couldn't hurt to get a new drive as you could always use it in a new TiVo. If the TiVo didn't boot, though, you'd still be left wondering if it was the drive or the TiVo.

Would you replace the TiVo or pay for an out-of-warranty exchange?

well I got it from Poweron.com on ebay and they have a 30day warranty and I just got it yesterday so if it is the tivo I will just call them and tell them the tivo is faulty but I think ill try a new HD first. I really dont think the tivo is faulty but Ima newbie so I guess it could be

ok call the poweron techsupport and they told me that they test every tivo the send out and that everything is was working fine with the tivo but that if I get I new HD and it still does that to just send it back to them I'll find out if its the tivo soon
