I have a a hughes dtivo GXCDBOT recently upgraded with an 80g maxtor drive B. Everything is working great there but the power to the fan is dead. Tried a new fan that I know is working and its not getting any power either. Any suggestion on what type of fan to get? Right now I have the cover off the tivo with my room fan blowing on the 2 drives so they won't overheat and I can still use my t.v.
Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions

Just run it off the hard drive power connector.

I have been running with cover off for 2 years -- we have no small children and the TiVo sits way up high on the big TV where the cat and visitors cannot touch the inside....
I am just too lazy to put it on and take it off until the TiVo is perfect........

Would one of those dual hard drive fans work. I don't want to have to mod the case.

Not to be pestimistic, but be sure you have the correct wires on the connector. Some of the fans have three connectors and the Tivo motherboard ( at least the series 2 I have) only supports 2 prong connectors. If it's a three prong connector, it will still work, just be sure you have offset it the correct direction.
