ok, i got my upgraded TiVo to work for about an hour, but now i can't get it to work at all. It froze up, and so i unplugged it. After I plugged it back in, it just reloops the "powering up.." screen (it reboots after like a minute, and continues that cycle infinitely..short of sending it back to weaknees, with their repair for $49 they offered me, does anyone have any suggestions??
thanks alot

Are you up for running some diagnostics on the disks, or do you not want to go there? If so, run PowerMax (for the original Quantum drive) or whatever on the drives and then make a compressed backup with MFS Tools (see New Hinsdale) from the drives.
I have to say, this isn't exactly what I'd expect from a drive problem - the fact that it didn't boot, then did, then didn't again suggests that the data on the drives are OK

rob--i'd be willing to run diagnostics on the drive; the only problem is that i have win xp on my system, so im not sure how id go about making a backup, etc..if you could help me out; that would help a lot

XP's not a problem for diagnostics as they run from a boot floppy. It does make backing up tricky, though.
