Hughes gxbot dead - need to fix - HELP!

Team,

My circa 2001 hughes xbot seems to have taken ill, when I restart it the unit gets to checking satellite and at 28% (every time) hangs and will not proceed to finish setup.

The unit had a problem the day before so I did a clean and restore to factory however it hung up there as well and what should have taken 1 hour was still there 1 day later.

I need to know if there is a way to bring this unit back to factory default, it's well past warantee so if I take it to the store it's going to come out of my pocket.

What I need to know is, if I pickup a new drive at the computer store, can I get a factory image on to that drive (mine is obviously corrupt) and get this back and working again... any help with tools, image files etc will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
MIGUEL

This isn't your unit at all - it's DirecTV. We have more info and a workaround here:

and you'll find more info here:

Superb thanks! Now I'll take the idea of a new drive, combine it with this group and setup my unit for a nice big honking 120gig drive and get some real recording time... thanks again!
