q about upgrading drive A

I am about to upgrade the drive A on my series 2 TiVo.

I already have a tivo.bak file from a previous upgrade to drive B, so I was thinking I could skip the backup step, and simply issue the following two commands from Hinsdale to move all my recordings, etc from the old A drive to the new A drive:

dd_ if=/dev/hda_ of=/dev/hdc_ bs=1024k

mfsadd –x /dev/hdc /dev/hdb

Will this be OK? Also, do I need to format or partition the new drive before I enter these commands, and if so, what command should I use? (Can't remember if I had to do this last time, and I can't seem to find info on formatting in Hinsdale.)

Thanks for any help!

That should work - no reformat necessary. The other option is the "-Tao" backup which would allow you to increase swap in the process, but may not be necessary.
