2 Features I'd love to see...

The two features I'd most like to see added...
1) 10/100 Ethernet - Including Web Interface, and LAN TV Streaming... I saw "Snapstream" on TechTV over the weekend, and this would be ubercool. http://www.snapstream.com I'd like to get my program/software updates over broadband connections, and I'd love to be able to access my Tivo's content from other parts of the house. Is there such a thing as a non-multimedia computer anymore?
2) Firewire Support - We all want to be able to add more storage... Firewire support provides the external connectivity we need so that we don't have to void our warranty, and the bandwidth we'd need for this application. Along with this, it'd be great to be able to organize stored video archives to specific devices, and take them over to a friends' house, or on the road when out of town. External firewire drives are becoming more available, and more affordable.

I believe that due to copyright concerns you can just about forget about seeing any kind of removable storage that you can share with others. If there is to be removable storage then you can be sure that it will be strongly encrypted to be playable only on the hardware that recorded it.

I think we will see it. After the market for TiVo-like machines firms up and "everyone" has one, by then the market leaders will be flush with cash to fight off the networks. Or one of the stragglers will have enough money and little enough market share to risk it. Or there will be enough home PCs hooked to TVs doing the job.
Lots of people want the feature, so eventually it will come. I just think it will be a while.
