ARG! Reboot Loop

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

OK, here's the story. I have an AT&T Series 2 (the original one) that I upgraded to a 120 GB Maxtor drive about a year ago. Everything has been great, really enjoy the elbow room, until a week ago. Thing stopped being able to display live TV, would reboot, etc. I figured it was a HD, so I purchased a new one and DD'd it from my current 120. Everything was running well, watched a program or two, then the sound went out. Now, it is stuck in the grey screen reboot loop (no errors, just keeps cycling on the reboot). The temp in the machine was usually around 45c, so I don't know if that is the problem.

Any ideas?

Did you 'dd' and keep the other drive? If so, maybe the other drive was the one that was dead, or maybe you copied over a corrupt image.

Yes, I dd'd my old drive (which seemed to be failing) to a new, same size drive. The image may have been corrupt, for sure. I may try and restore my original drive to my new 120 and see what that does.

Any other ideas?

That sounds similar to the problem that we have been having with our series 1 unit. We can't get it to boot past the grey "Welcome, powering up" screen. Please let us know if you get yours fixed - I will do the same!

I think I have a problem with the voltage regulator. When I start it up fresh, it works fine. Then, the sound goes off and then the reboot loop happens. I tried it with the original drive (my backup) and I get the same problem, so I don't think it is a SW problem.
